Kamala Khan (aka Ms. Marvel) has been announced as a playable character in Marvel's Avengers, the upcoming action-adventure game from developer Crystal Dynamics. The newest addition to the game was revealed at New York Comic-Con today along with a trailer that shows her role in the original story.

Up until now, we've known what leads to the break up up the Avengers; a horrible disaster on A-Day results in massive devastation, the death of Captain America, the outlawing of all super heroes and the split of Earth's Mightiest. But what we didn't know is the person responsible for reassembling them five years later. As revealed in the trailer, it is none other than Kamala Khan who discovers evidence of a global conspiracy and seeks to bring the truth to light. But first she'll need some help from the Avengers. Additional plot details were shared as well.

With the Avengers disbanded & Super Heroes outlawed post A-Day, a vacuum was created. AIM – Advanced Idea Mechanics – stepped in to fill the void. AIM believes that unchecked power wielded by emotional humans is dangerous. They believe science is safer than Super Heroes.

With evidence in hand, Khan seeks the help of Bruce Banner as well as Tony Stark. Kamala Khan will be voiced by prominant video game voice actress Sandra Saad.  Describing the character a little more in depth during the panel it was explained that her "undying hope, resilience, and the fact that she’s a mega-Avengers fangirl who knows them better than she knows herself" is what makes Khan a perfect character to bring the Avengers together.

In addition to some background story, we also get to see some glimpses of Kamala Khan's gameplay, including her stretching and "embiggen" powers.

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Marvel's Avengers will assemble on May 15, 2020 for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Google Stadia.
