Zoe Saldana Says GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Director James Gunn Is A Producer On AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

Those of you worried that Star-Lord and company won't be in good hands without James Gunn will be glad to know that the filmmaker is apparently one of the producers of Avengers: Infinity War...

With the Guardians of the Galaxy set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, some fans have been wondering if the team will still be in safe hands with the Russo Brothers. We know that the filmmakers are more than capable (they introduced Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after all), but the Guardians very much belong to director James Gunn, so surely he should be involved somehow?

Well, in an interview with IGN, Zoe Saldana seemingly confirmed that Gunn will serve as a producer on the 2018 release. "James Gunn is a producer on [Avengers: Infinity War]. I know that he won't ever let the integrity of what he's created for the Guardians ever be compromised, so I'm at ease."

Gunn being involved in some capacity makes a lot of sense, especially as he'll no doubt want to keep an eye on continuity for when he starts work on the inevitable Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3! Needless to say, this is very good news, and with any luck, Gunn will confirm this news on social media shortly.

I'm glad to see Gunn as a producer. I feel like all the phase three directors should be producers and somehow help the Russos out but they don't need help anyways.

@PantherKing - I'm sure all the directors will have a hand in it. The Russos had Coogler come in and help with Civil War; primarily Panther stuff. Coogler even changed dialogue for Panther in a particular scene I think and gave his two cents on things.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/How-Ryan-Coogler-Helped-With-Black-Panther-Captain-America-Civil-War-124067.html

"Ryan came in and watched the movie. We did a little bit of additional photography here and there and Ryan did a pass at a couple of those scenes. So there’s a line or two that Panther says in the movie that Ryan contributed to. [Civil War screenwriters] Chris [Markus] and Steve [McFeely] absorbed it into their draft, put their spin on it and words to it, but Ryan has started to be involved in earlier cuts of this movie."

I remember Peyton Reed said the directors are always passing notes and discussing the films at Marvel HQ during lunch or in one another's offices.

@ComicsBornAndBred - If that's the case then this movie is in good hands.

@ComicsBornAndBred - "the directors are always passing notes and discussing the films at Marvel HQ during lunch or in one another's offices"

...sounds like one hell of a fun place to work.

@ComicsBornAndBred - I imagine all directors watching movies one of others, this is definitely fun.

This is encouraging as Gunn crafted a great group of characters, as well a an intriguing and colorful cosmos for them to inhabit with GOTG.

He's kind of the GRANDDADDY of the COSMIC part of the MCU so his input, when it comes to placing the Avengers into the cosmic side of things, should be required.

I'm guessing The Avengers are gonna get a crash course in all things THANOS from Gamora, and Nebula, as well.

Seems like a sensible thing to do.
