THE BATMAN Will Hit Theaters In China On March 18; New International Poster Released

We recently learned that The Batman had secured a release date in China, and it's just been announced that Matt Reeves' upcoming reboot will hit theaters in the Middle Kingdom on March 18.

News broke earlier this week that The Batman had secured a theatrical release in China, and an official debut date has now been announced.

Matt Reeves' highly-anticipated reboot will hit theaters in the Middle Kingdom on March 18, just two weeks after it releases in The U.S. and most other major territories worldwide. This makes The Batman the first major Hollywood blockbuster to be granted a release in China since Wonder Woman 1984.

This is obviously great news for Warner Bros., as the most recent box office tracking pointed to a lower opening weekend haul than initial estimates predicted ($80M+ down from $135 million - $185 million). A China release should bump up those numbers significantly, but The Batman's near three-hour runtime and 15A certificate (in certain locations) may still have a negative impact on its takings.

Early press screenings have been taking place over the past week or so, but the social media embargo doesn't lift until February 28, so we still have a while to go before we get to see those initial reactions to The Dark Knight's latest solo outing.

For now, you can check out a new international poster for The Batman below.

@Spawnnn - No offense but why would you care how much money these rich corporations make. Even without China they would have made their money back and then some. You act like they're paying you lol.

@Typhoon20 - Because I love it when filmmakers get creative freedom and BO is an important factor to continue. After TSS has bombed terribly they need a big W.

@Typhoon20 - Because box office determines whether films get continuations or not.

Unfortunately, this is the case for both good and bad ones too and while people watch the bad ones, trash continues to be made.

Hence why I am happy that films like Resurrections and Moonfall flopped and will be happy too if films like The Batman make decent profit, respectively.

Wonder what this'll make there. Aside from Aquaman, DC films weren't making that much there. Canon DCEU movie Justice League(2017) was the first one to go over $100M. It was funny then because it barely beat Ant-Man there by $1M.

@Roodi - its a shame that 1st SS film was banned from China, would have been interesting how much it would have made there

Interesting how quickly the CCP allowed country-wide release of The Batman.
