Unhinged BATMAN "Fans" Have Already Started Petitioning For Robert Pattinson Not To Play The Next Dark Knight

Well, that didn't take long! Just hours after Robert Pattinson was named as the frontrunner for the lead role in The Batman, some so-called "fans" have already started petitioning for him to be replaced.

Well, this is sad. It's only been hours since we learned that Robert Pattinson is seemingly the front-runner to take on the role of Batman in Matt Reeves' upcoming reboot, and the "fan" petitions are already flooding the internet. While the actor is an unexpected choice to play a young Bruce Wayne, he's spent the past few years receiving critical acclaim for a number of award-worthy performances.

Despite that, one petition pleads with Warner Bros. to not "make the Batfleck mistake again," while another suggests that fans should attempt to thwart the studio's plans by calling Pattinson a "complete joke" and "the worst casting ever" for the Caped Crusader. The deal hasn't even been made official yet, of course, but another petition already wants to "replace Robert Pattinson as the new Batman."

Armie Hammer has been named as a possible frontrunner as well, and considering the fact he's been a fan-favourite choice for a while now, it's no great surprise that one of the petitions out there says, "To cast Robert Pattinson or anyone other than Armie Hammer at this point would be a joke."

With Nicholas Hoult and Aaron Taylor-Johnson's names also in the mix, casting for The Batman isn't over just yet, but it's shocking to see that there's already so much negativity surrounding Pattinson - especially when the same was once the case for Ben Affleck and he's now credited as being one of the best big screen Dark Knights of all-time (despite some questionable creative decisions).

Who are you rooting for to become the new Batman in the DCEU?

I love how pathetic some people can be. In my opinion Pattison is actually one of the better choices

@MalseMarcel - People are pathetic because.....they signed a petition?????

It's not like they're out protesting or something.

'Unhinged?' - quality, impartical, and suitable journalism by Wilding again.

@CLTMAN29 - Well, that's pretty accurate.

@CLTMAN29 - I presumed the use of that word was cynical just to trigger people

@CLTMAN29 - I, for one, appreciate that word being used. It gave me instant comedic delight picturing a bunch of Batman fans completely losing their shit and then furiously stroking their signature in fit of utter dispute.

THEY'RE UNHINGED! SOMEBODY STOP THEM!

Lol

@CLTMAN29 - This never happens for Marvel movies except when these fans call for people to write bad reviews or Rotten Tomatoes to help bring down audience rating.

@frammi - How is it accurate? Please explain how opposing a casting decision in a movie could possibly be described as "unhinged".

@Nightwing1015 - because fans think they should be involved too much in movie decisions. What happened to artistic intent? But everyone just complains about everything that doesn’t live up to their fan boy dreams instead of appreciating the art for what it is. The movie hasn’t even begun filming yet

@Nightwing1015 - Forming a petition all to prevent a harmless and unproblematic guy from getting a [frick]ing job is the very definition of unhinged.

@DnA - How is it? Maybe they just prefer another actor. Like this guy:

Claiming somebody has mental health problems because they disagree with you on a casting decision is pretty immoral.

@DoubleD - I'm fairly positive people weren't exactly thrilled when Chris Evans was picked as Captain America. Maybe not start a petition mad, but I recall people not happy about it.

Oh and people got mad cause Tilda Swinton was picked as the Ancient One in Doctor Strange.

@Nightwing1015 - Read what I said again, and try to actually comprehend what I'm saying.

I never said disagreeing with someone on a casting decision is wrong. I said making an online petition to prevent someone from taking a job because you don't like them is in fact unhinged. Pattinson hasn't done anything wrong by going for the role and being considered. Petitions are used for serious issues, and this is not one of them, and actually deciding to get that job away from him IS UNHINGED and very narcissistic and entitled.

You can disagree about something without throwing a damn fit like a spoilt child. That's how the fandom behaves: like spoilt children. That's what forming that petition is.

@DnA - In my eyes petitions are only for one thing - to express an opinion. People signing it don't expect that anyone will actually lose their role over it. They just want to put out there that many people disagree.

For example, in the UK where I'm from, millions of people sign petitions to remain in the EU. Those won't have any effect but they still allow these people to voice their opinion. They aren't spoilt children for doing that.

And petitions aren't just for serious issues. Many people sign entertainment related petitions just to let people know there's support for certain ideas.
