Last month, Margot Robbie revealed that the full title for Birds of Prey will be Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). That's quite a mouthful and it's hard to imagine anyone actually referring to it as that between now and 2020. Regardless, it definitely provides some insight into the tone of the movie and points to the focus being on Harley Quinn.
During a recent interview to promote Bumblebee, writer Christina Hodson was asked where the title came from and revealed that she actually thought it up back when she was penning the screenplay.
"I don’t know if I’m officially allowed to say, but there’s no reason why not. It was an unofficial aka [also known as], when I wrote the script. I added it about a year or so ago, almost exactly as it is, just as an aka. I didn’t think we’d ever use it," she explained.
"We’d always used a working title, so I just had it as a cheeky little thing, on the front cover. And then, when we were talking about a title and brainstorming, we all kept drifting back to that one." Well, that explains that then, and it does tell moviegoers more about what they should expect from the film than just "Birds of Prey."
