Some newly revealed concept art from Black Adam puts the spotlight not only on Dwayne Johnson's anti-hero, but the enigmatic Doctor Fate, as played by former James Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan. Check it out!

Warner Bros. recently shared a preview for its DC slate in 2022, and it included footage from Black Adam. The trailer for that movie still hasn't been released, but is likely heading our way in time for The Batman so it can play in front of Matt Reves' reboot in theaters.

Regardless, our first look at the Justice Society of America has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response from fans, with many arguing that the team looks even better than the Justice League! Their costumes have certainly translated well to screen, and seeing Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate proved to be a highlight (who would have thought the former 007 would ever suit up as a superhero?).

The newly released concept art below showcases both Fate and Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam. The former is shown with and without his helmet, and looks pretty damn cool rocking that beard.

Doctor Fate first appeared in the pages of More Fun Comics #55 in 1940. Essentially the DC Universe's Doctor Strange, he's an incredibly powerful magic user and has served on many superhero teams over the years, but is most closely associated with the JSA. Given Black Adam's ties to magic, it makes sense that Fate would attempt to recruit him for the team of heroes he's assembled here.

Black Adam will blast its way into theaters on July 29.

@NoWayClunge - Really? Bc if he looked like the concept art, people would be complaining that they "Snyderized" him.

This site is buggy as hell.

@NoWayClunge - Thanks mate I'll take it from here.

@MrDitkovich - I must admit, I have my own very particular tastes when it comes to costume designs, especially since it's something I do obsessively every now and then for fun. And maybe the fact that I tend to kinda like Snyder's visual sensiblities plays some role in that.

All I know is that, aside from the added layers of depth, color and texture in the concept art, I also see a Doctor Fate costume that says a lot about the character's roots and defining traits. And in that one shot in the trailer, I just see a guy in blue spandex.

"The team"

Doubt he has his own team, because that concept art is leagues above his work

I’m 100% going to this film for just Fate and Hawkman. Black Adam is cool and all but, just like Venom, introducing a villain/anti hero separate from the hero they are connected to doesn’t work for me

@Twenty23Three - Loki ?

@Twenty23Three - see with black Adam I’m ok with this because he does appear before Billy technically. As long as they meet in Shazam 3 I’m cool with it.

Venom is just a completely different take since they made this version have absolutely zero connection to Spider-Man

@dragon316 - Loki was a villain for like.. 2 and a bit movies till his popularity made them make him more heroic and try and retcon how bad he was, so since he was a full on bad guy who took a more heroic turn I’m ok with it

@dragon316 - Introduced as a villain in Thor, was a villain in Avengers, started to go from villain to tweener in Dark World, started the path to redemption in Ragnarok, died in Infinity war.

Variant Loki diverges after Avengers, but has an expedited redemption arc.

Don't see how Loki applies here.

If Black Adam is a "good guy" I'm gonna hate this movie. We know the backstory but when you're knocking off planets and civilizations... you're the bad guy..

As hesitant as I am about this film, Brosnan as fate is just grade A casting. I really hope he pops up in a JLD film down the line.

In the thumbnail for this article it looks like Fate’s helmet doesn’t have any eye holes. I thought the same thing when I seen the trailer too.

In the concept art it looks like Dr. Fate has eye holes. Great! And if for some strange reason he doesn't in the movie, they have PLENTY of time to fix it before the movie comes out. How hard can CGI-ing eye holes be, amirite?

I’m liking the look of Dr Fate and Hawkman. This is probably my most anticipated DC film coming out. I’m hoping we don’t get too much goofiness from the Rock. Dude should be like the terminator.
