BLACK PANTHER: WAKDANDA FOREVER Set Photo Reveals First Look At Dominique Thorne As Riri Williams

A new photo from the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever offers what appears to be our first look at Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Check it out after the jump...

It was recently confirmed that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will introduce Riri Williams ahead of her taking centre stage in Ironheart on Disney+. Rumour has it the character will play a substantial role in the film, and we wouldn't be surprised if she suits up for the first time in this sequel.

Now, a first look at actress Dominique Thorne as Riri has been revealed on the MIT set of the movie in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

She's in street clothes, so this really doesn't shed much light on what we can expect; however, fans of the character are bound to be excited to catch this glimpse of Riri in the MCU. For those of you who aren't overly familiar with the hero, she first appeared in the pages of Iron Man #7 just five years ago.

After Tony Stark's apparent demise, Riri managed to reverse-engineer the Iron Man armour to pick up where he left off. When the Armoured Avenger finally returned, she became Ironheart instead. During her early adventures, the young hero was helped in battle by an A.I. version of Tony.

Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, and Tenoch Huerta are all set to appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (which will be released on May 6, 2022). Hopefully, we'll get some additional details on this one before the year reaches its end.

@chewie - I think it's covering a costume of some kind and the costume crew likely did it.

Wonder how big her role in this is or if it already sets up Ironheart. If they're at MIT, I hope Iron Man 3 kid is also there

Damn, shorty is a real shorty.

Good thing she flies or she might be fighting baddies from on to of a milk crate.

Not crazy about the comics take on the character, but I'm hopeful Marvel can make the live action version more interesting.

@ModHaterSLADE - Not too familiar with Riri, but what I heard from others is that she feels more like Bendis was just marking off a checklist.

@RevanIsMyMan - unfortunately that's pretty much all Bendis did after the first few arcs of Miles as Ultimate Spider-Man imo.
It tough seeing what he became since his Ultimate Spider-Man books were what really got me into comics.

@ModHaterSLADE @RevanIsMyMan @PapaSpank54

Well, tbh I have zero problems with spinoff characters like Riri or Miles.

MUCH better than race or gender swapping stablished characters IMHO.

What I don't like (and I remember writing it right here in this site) is that comics are trapped in an eternal loop of dying/vanishing/reappearing characters that makes feel (obviously) there are zero stakes in everything that happens.

Shit, even Aunt May died and was revived.

In this sense (and some others) western comics have SO MUCH to learn from manga.

@Fogs - Like Dragon Ball? Sailor Moon? Naruto?

@Reeds2Much - Well we can find manga examples with solid timelines, generations appearing, passing and so on.

In the current state of Marvel and DC comics... Not so many.
