Scarlett Johansson Lands Massive $15 Million Payday For Starring In BLACK WIDOW Movie

In an unprecedented move by Marvel Studios, it's been revealed today that Avengers: Infinity War star Scarlett Johansson hs secured a huge payday to return as Black Widow in that planned solo outing...

Marvel Studios isn't known for paying its stars a huge amount of money. Before he became a pivotal part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. was paid a paltry $500,000 for the first Iron Man movie and Scarlett Johansson earned a low seven-figure salary for The Avengers (which is a lot of money to us regular folk but not a patch on the $50 million scored by Downey Jr. in the ensemble).

However, The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that Johansson - who has starred in six movies as Black Widow - will land a massive $15 million payday for the upcoming standalone movie featuring the spy. That's the same amount that Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth made for Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok and Marvel Studios
is clearly embracing the idea of equal pay for its actors.

The trade notes that those who stick around for the long haul in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are rewarded for their efforts because Chadwick Boseman, who was paid $2 million for Black Panther, is expected to receive a significant pay rise for the sequel. Marvel also allows its actors to share in the upside of a movie and you have to wonder if more money will convince Chris Evans to stick around.

Damn.

I remember when everybody went crazy over Tobey Maguire's 20 mill paycheck for Spider-Man 3.

Now people are getting paid big money for Black Widow and shit.

I repeat.

Damn.

@MaximusTheMad - Remember when he had a $50 million dollar paycheck for the cancelled Spider-Man 4 & 5? With a clause in his contract to spend as much time as he wants with his daughter in the span of six months filming?

Crazy.

@Matador - I know. If it’s an origin story then I guess it might be like Red Sparrow...?
I like Black Widow but I don’t care enough about a ScarJo Black Widow.
I’m sure it’ll be a decent movie and people will still flock to watch it.

@Vish617 - I'll watch it if they include some members of shield and Hawkeye or a female style James Bond flick.
I'm not sure I can watch her play Red Sparrow movie at this point.

@Matador - and that's what they said about most of the current characters that comprise MCU movies before they saw what people like Fanreau, Whedon, Gunn, Taika and the Russos could do with them.

I wonder if that 15 million is just for a Black Widow solo movie, or if it's also for appearances in other Marvel movies. Either way, good for her. Even though 15 million is 7 million for Uncle Sam, still good for her. 💵

And then there's RDJ getting paid 65 mill for a couple of scenes in Civil War.

He got paid more than the actual star.

Isaac Perlmutter almost exploded upon hearing this.

It's why Marvel Studios split from the rest of Marvel.
