As I’m sure most of you will know by now, I live in Wales, and have been keeping you guys updated about the rumour MarvelDCFreshman posted a few months ago stating that Marvel will be filming scenes in the WWII era military base and Royal Navy propellant factory for Captain America: The First Avenger. When I visited the area and spoke to a few of the locals, they did confirm that they’d seen camera crews in the area but as it’s a popular filming location for BBC Wales productions like Doctor Who and Torchwood, I couldn’t find any definitive proof that they’d be filming there. (meaning I could hopefully grab some sneaky pictures as it’s only a 20 minute drive down the road)

Well, after sending piles of emails out to a number of people, I finally received a reply. Penny Skuse, who is a film officer with the South East division of the Wales Screen Commission (part of the Welsh Assembly Government) got in touch to clear a few things up and promised me that she’d give CBM an exclusive update sometime in the next few days. Here are some excerpts from her email to me:

"I’m still awaiting confirmation that Captain America is indeed filming in Caerwent."

"We submitted a number of location suggestions across Wales (including the MoD Training site at Caerwent) for this feature film a few months back and despite contacting the location manager and our contact at the site itself, have not heard anything back."

"I will try and get in touch with the unit publicist on the film over the next few days and let you know what their response is."

I’d like to thank Penny for taking the time to get back to me (you wouldn’t believe the amount of people who just ignored my emails) and will of course let you guys know as soon as we get some solid confirmation from her about whether or not this is one of the upcoming Marvel Studios’ movies filming locations. If it is…well, here’s hoping I’ll be able to find out when and get some pictures as I’ve said above!

Filming is already taking place in various locations throughout the UK. If you’ve got any information about this movie or have any photos you’ve managed to get that you’d like to share with us, feel free to get in touch by clicking on the "Contact Me" tab at the top left hand side of the page.

I agree with Leee777 bring on Union Jack.

@MrAnonymous
I too would like to see the Invaders but somehow I personally prefer it to be more like "Saving Private Ryan" tone. That is to focus more in realistic World War II and reserve the more fantastic concepts on later sequels. That being said I believe Union Jack character can easily blend into the concept and "Private Namor" would be more appropriate than the Imperious Rex/Submariner.

Hope you get more word! You're lucky to get a film crew near you. I live over in South Texas near Corpus Christi and we've only had a few people drop by to shoot a picture. The only one I could think of was "Selena" with Jennifer Lopez and I think I was barely born (if it was on 1994). Last I heard of the Sparkling Bay being attached to a film was when a local news station did a report on the author of "Jumper" Steven Gould in honor of the release of the film. I think they might've said he was from here or that he spent some time here.

Don't give up, but word to the wise, I know how it feels to get obsessed over something and trying to keep tabs on it. As I'm sure you know. ;)

Good luck with it and don't let it get over your head!

I hope this isn't what it looks like because it gives me the image of guy on guy action. In other words "Gay"
