Disney is currently hard at work on Star Wars Land, but you have to believe that Disney Parks will soon start featuring more great Marvel content. A Marvel Land of some sort feels like an inevitability and Digital Trends have now come across an attraction which will allow visitors to wield Captain America's shield. It all sounds pretty complicated but the patent best describes what we can expect.

"In one embodiment, the throwing apparatus is a toy device that permits the user to play the role of a superhero who uses the projectile to attack virtual or physical targets (e.g., toys) or defend against attacks from the targets or other players in an immersive storytelling environment," it reads. In other words, you're going to be able to throw a replica of Cap's shield across a rail in a virtual reality setting.

VR is becoming more and more popular, with at least twenty VR-enhanced roller coasters in operation in the US alone. Disney's Toy Story Mania ride actually uses VR headsets, so they've clearly got an idea of how to use the technology. The company is clearly planning on incorporating physical props into this attraction
too as the shield being attached to a rail means it will return to you after throwing it just as it always does to Captain America. The patent has yet to be approved, though, so it's a long way off.

Regardless, this is a good sign we're getting more Marvel rides in Disney Parks, so start getting excited!

sounds way better than it will be.

It would be so bitchin' if this attraction featured Jenna Coleman reprising her role from Captain America:The First Avenger........

@Parker00 - Ah she was wasted in tfa. Then again she wasnt the rising star then, pre doc who.

We need matt smith, jenna and all the actors better roles, they deserve better.

@PirateCipher - Admittedly, I have yet to give Dr. Who a chance. I ultimately just wanted an excuse to gaze upon her some more, hahaha!!! Ms. Coleman is an undisputed dime in my book!!!

@PirateCipher - I'll watch a Twilight film if she's in it!!! Or at least I'd really, really want to. By the way, how many of you Ciphers are on here? Y'all are like the O'Doyles(see Billy Madison) around here!

@Parker00 - That picture is a big part of why I started watching Doctor Who.

@theFUZZ008 - I believe I'm about to start that my damn self! Were I to start whatever season/year that Jenna turned up, I wouldn't be lost, would I?

@Parker00 - I would start with Series 5. When Matt Smith started. I started with the event episode "The Day of the Doctor," worked forward through Series Eight -- the current series at the time--, and then backtracked to Series One to catch up. I was fine, but I think a more logical jumping point would be Smith's premiere, "The Elevent Hour."

Disney patenting a whole new piece of tech for a VR/ Physical Captain America shield throwing attraction? That sounds awesome af. Hope it actually is as good as it sounds. Also hope the player can actually move around instead of standing in place.

This will probably be a dopey arcade shooter like the Buzz Lightyear ride. I know all the legal crap would prevent this, but I wish Cap had his ride at Universal with Spidey and Hulk. Universal builds rides for teens and adults. It's just a way better park than Disney World. Yeah. I said it. Come and get me, Mouse.

Soon it will be marvel land! And that’s okay with me!

Disney World has plenty of room to add this stuff but the Disneyland Resort will need to remove stuff to incorporate Marvel. Which depending on what they remove, it may upset me. Just like the Tower of Terror 😥

Toy Story Mania doesn't use VR, no Disney attraction does yet.

This is rumored for Disney's California Adventure where the Guardians retheming of Tower of Terror just happened. It would replace the current Monsters Inc dark ride, and along with another rumored Avengers coaster would be the start of a Marvel themed land in the CA park, something they can't do in Florida yet.
