Yesterday saw the release of the post-Secret Wars 'Amazing Spider-Man' relaunch. Writer Dan Slott has set up a new status quo for Peter, who is taking Parker Industries worldwide. The life of Peter Parker has changed quite drastically in this issue; he has finally learned to drive, Parker Industries is now supplying technology to S.H.I.E.L.D., and he has used Parker Industries to establish a new charity called The Uncle Ben Foundation. In addition, Peter has enlisted Hobie Brown (formerly the Prowler) to masquerade as Spider-Man, maintaining the illusion that he's Peter's personal bodyguard.

The biggest twist of the issue,  however, involved the return of a pretty major character. Who, you may ask?

[CAUTION: SPOILERS AHEAD]

That's right! Doctor Octopus is back yet again, having stored a copy of his mind inside the Living Brain! Thought dead after the events of 'Superior Spider-Man', it seems the villain has thought of everything when it comes to ensuring his survival. It's likely this 'backup' doesn't retain the moral lessons Ock learned shortly before sacrificing himself to help stop Norman Osborn.

Are you excited to see Ock return to the pages of Amazing Spider-Man? What do you think of the new creative direction? Sound off below!

@LEVITIKUZ Superior didn't really offer much to Ock in terms of development. Sure we got to see him as a lead, and he learned about being responsibke....ish...but he was still the same arrogant jackass he's always been. His tenure as Spidey, in my opinion, was more of a transitional period to bring Peter to this point. It's more about what Ock DID as Spider-Man, as opposed to how he behaved.

Dan Slott is a complete and utter failure. He sucks big time. I don't understand why he's in comics at all. Then again, DC hired Ann Nocenti and actually still keeps her around, so i don't know.

Wow,there actually was really good development for ock at the end of superior, i [frick]ing knew when he left the way he did they would bring him back as a [frick]ing villain. Ugh, why couldn't he get a new body and just be spider-man in a different city? It would be a nice way to shake things up. But no, status quo is god. -_- [frick] you Slott.

Like this is really pathetic, Ock learned a big lesson, that not matter how hard he tried, Peter would always be the "Superior Spider-Man" As Peter was the only one who could save Anne Marie. Thus he gives the ultimate sacrifice and gives peter his body back to save her. Becoming the true hero he wanted to be after what happened in issue 700 of amazing. Making the ending of that story beautifully tragic. But now, back to the oldies, Ock is even again cause lazy writing. I hated superior when it first came out cause of ocks attitude but the ending of that book changed my mind. Well, if its all for nothing now (even though i kind of saw this coming) i might actually hate superior again. Way to go Slott,

@DrunkenNukem

Peter is pretty much a combo of Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne during Batman INC. Peter owns and runs Parker Industries and has publicly said Spider-Man is Peter Parker's bodyguard.

Remember back when Peter was the most relatable superhero?

@MattBellissimo

Ock was surprising well developed, even though I hate Superior, in learning that Peter will always be the better Spidey. Ock found it in him to give up his pride and ego to accept that Peter would be the superior Spider-Man. Ock found some sort of redemption in that.

Now all that redemption and and development is gone and Ock is back to being EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@LEVITIKUZ Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree with you there. There definitely was SOME development in Ock learning that he's not superior to Peter. His ego took ma big hit and for him to man up and accept it, that was pretty great. But when reading Superior, I kinda looked at it as a stepping stone towards furthering Peter's progression into...well, an adult. A lot of people thought Superior was gonna take Pete back to the status quo of being an outcast since Ock f*cked up his life. Instead Ock kinda showed Peter what he's actually capable of in a strange, twisted way. I like the idea of Parker Industries. Peter using his genius to better the world MAKES SENSE. He's still about power and responsibility, just on a far bigger level. While I dislike some of the early Iron Man qualities being applied here (bodyguard and etc), he's definitely not going to be Tony Lite anytime soon. This panel proved that to me:

@LEVITIKUZ But I also agree that Ock going back to being a villain blows/.

@Superherodude1

He's Tony Stark in the way how Spider-Man is Peter's "bodyguard".

But I said he's Stark and Bruce. In a way he does feel more like Bruce/Batman in a way since Peter's intentions for his company are for the better like how Bruce thinks (and not like how Tony thinks). Him opening the Uncle Ben foundation was fine. While he isn't no playboy billionaire, it's one issue lol. Give it time.

I just really hate the idea of Peter having Parker Industries for one single reason.

Peter never built it himself. Ock built it while in Peter's body. Peter basically inherits the company.

That's really my biggest problem and if Peter built it himself, I actually wouldn't mind Parker Industries.

@MattBellissimo

I've always felt that the best part about Superior was really how to me Ock felt a little more Batmanish in terms of some of the ways he helped fight crime and also how he would go at criminals. The best part of that was really in a way it showed how only Peter can be Spidey. No one else can be Spidey other then Peter so to speak. Like while Ock had a motive and tools; he lacked the heart to be Spidey and that's really the most important thing about Spidey. His heart. He's the "Friendly Neighborhood" Spider-Man.

Like we have more then one Spideys but even someone like Miles, he has the heart to be Spidey. While I think it's a mediocre game, I did love the characterizations of Peter and Miguel in Edge of Time how even though Miguel was Spidey in his time he sort of thought more of the mission at hand then the people involved. Kind of like the part where MJ's in the building and Peter's in 2099 while Miguel's in the present and Miguel has to save her.

At the end of the day what Superior really was about in my mind is while it presented a different way one can be Spider-Man, you can't be Spider-Man unless you have the heart to do good which Ock doesn't.

I do agree there are things about Parker Industries I like, as I said above biggest problem is Peter never built it himself. Ock built it while in Peter's body. Peter basically inherits the company. I would have preferred Peter built it.

I say that these should be in Spider-Man movies
1. No offense Jon watts and the scriptwriters, but after the first movie, do not bring them back for the second.
2.Mysterio needs to be the first villain with a side villain or whatever.
3.Bring the humor we love, but not too much.
4. Do not focus on his love life this time, focus on Peter. No other superhero that has a love interest movies were based on them except for Incredible Hulk.
5. Put a hint of Infinity War in there, that way we know he belongs in the universe
6.Bring back our cigar lover J. Jonah Jameson's Daily Bugle.
7. Please put makeup on Marisa Tomei to make her look older, paler, and have that white hair.
8. ( I know this won't happen) Have a opening credit scene where he is fighting bad guys with the Avengers!!
9.Bring the High School on!!!
10. Even if we do not see the origin, you should at least do Incredible Hulk did or make a prequel comic.
11. Make the best unique costume that still resembles our webhead.
12. Finally, call it Spider-Man: New Avenger. It resembles Captain America:First Avenger.
With my suggestments, this movie would be glorious!!!
