captain britain needs his own monthly title,i use to love early issues of excalibur one of the best mutant titles ever.

Best Avengers title running UNIVERSE 666 IS THE BEST! Captain Britain totally should have his own title by now.

I'd only support a new Captain Britain ongoing if Alan Davis was involved.

Go find both the Captain Britain trade by Davis and Jamie Delano,and the collection of the Jaspers' Warp story written by Alan Moore with Davis on art.

Marvel closed down all it's British offices a while back because they were Fing the Marvel U up. Captain Britain will be just fine without an actual Brit writing him.

I feel I need to correct you, on that one. Marvel UK's closure has nothing to do with interfering with the shared universe. Far from it. Apart from the few Imprint titles which were set in different continuities (Dragon's Claws for example) all the other titles were very much set IN continuity, and matched up pretty well.

The reason that Marvel closed down Marvel UK back in 1995 had nothing to do with continuity, or indeed for lack of sales. Marvel UK imprint titkles were actually selling very well, and had even spawn a Vertigo style sub-imprint of its own.

Marvel UK was sold purely because Marvel themselves were teetering on the brink of bankruptcy. Marvel UK (Which also handled Marvel reprints in the UK) was simply seen as an easy part of the company to close in order to cut costs, and sell on reprint rights to outside companies (Panini, in this case).

Marvel UK's creators (The likes of Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, Bryan Hitch, Alan Davis, Carlos Pacheco, Salvador Larocca, Jim Cheung and others) were then given work with the US office.

I personally do not feel it essential that Captain Britain be written by a Brit. It often helps, but there's no reason why an American, Canadian or writer from any other Country cannot do a good job with the guy. They've just got to get a proper handle on the character, his legacy and mythos.

Unfortunately, I do not feel that Rick Remender has done this. This final arc has been a vast improvement in terms of his understabding of Captain Britain, but his earlier Secret Avengers appearances, and Remender's use of Brian on Uncanny X-Force, have seemed like reading a totally different character. Some kind of arrogant, unreasonable, totalitarian dickhead, who rushes into every situation half-cocked, orders men to be erased from reality without trial and berates war heroes.

Pretty much the exact antithesis of everything the character has ever stood for.
