Thanks to Newsarama, we have the following coverage from Marvel's "Amazing Spider-Man" panel at the New York Comic Con. In attendance were writer Dan Slott, artists Ryan Stegman and Paola Rivera, Editors Steve Wacker, Ellie Pyle and Tom Brennan and Manager of Sales & Communications Arune Singh. To read more about both Spidey and titles such as Ghost Rider, Moon Knight and Punisher, be sure to click on the link below to head on over to the site.

Back to catching up: A cover from January was shown, with a Daily Bugle cover that reads, "NEW YORK DESTROYED." Singh says that readers have no idea where Spider-Island is going, which makes the story even better.

Coming in January 2012: "Spidey Meets the Devil," a crossover between Amazing Spider-Man #677 (part 1) and Daredevil #8 (part two) by Mark Waid, Emma Rios and Kano. Wacker said that they gave Waid "carte blanche" to run with things, and that it gave Slott a chance to recuperate after Spider-Island. Slott said there would be big repercussions from the story felt in his title.

Classic villains in Amazing Spider-Man? Slott: "Doc Ock, back in issue #600, learned that he was dying and doesn't have much time. It's getting close. We've been seeing this master plan. We can expect some Sinister Six action in 2012." Slott continued, saying that Amazing Spider-Man #676 will have no Spider-Man at all, just the Sinister Six.

Slott promoted an appearance coming up from the classic Vulture — which he equated to "beating up Orville Redenbacher" – and that a Sandman story like "one you haven't seen before" is coming up. Slott also pointed out that with Lizard as the villain of the new Spider-Man film, he'll probably be around.

Is Spider-Sense back for good? "It's back!" Slott exclaimed. "Now he has Spider-Sense — and kung-fu!"

Wacker pointed out that Amazing Spider-Man will hit #700 next year, and the character will celebrate its 50th year. Wacker said they're adding a tag line to the book — "the world's greatest superhero."

"He bounces off our characters better than anybody," Wacker said. "There's nobody who comes into Marvel without pitching their ideas for Spider-Man. The soap opera of Peter Parker is always the most important part of the book," Wacker added.

Will Harry Osborn be around? "We have Harry plans, they're a little more long term," Wacker said.

The panel ended with an image that said "Ends of the Earth," featuring a pair of Doc Ock arms, and credited to Slott/Caselli — so, presumably, an upcoming arc on Amazing Spider-Man by Dan Slott and Stefano Caselli.

sweetness. I can't wait to see that glorious title bestowed to him on the first issue to have it. He truly is the best. In One Moment in Time, Tony says it best that Spider-man is "The best of Us"

so the world's greatest superhero is shown trampled by Black Cat in the most embarrassing position?

... Nice going Marvel, you really are on a roll

I love Spider-Man, but I think that title belongs to Superman. But Marvel gets points for trying.

@Intruder, Wolverine sucks. But that's just my opinion. If I had to choose someone else for Worlds Greatest Hero besides Superman...

Well, for Marvel it'd probably be Captain America (I'm so cliche it hurts.)

And for DC (based on their new 52) it'd be Aquaman. I really loved that issue because I like how they put in the fact that the real world considers him a joke. "How does it feel to be nobodies favorite superhero?"

I wish he had replied with "I dunno, ask Plastic Man."

... even though I love Plastic Man.

Top 10 superheroes imho:
1.Superman-(incredible mythos. Without him there are none)
2.Spiderman-Kicks a$$ way beyond his level and never gives up... even when he's been beaten half to death.
3.Hulk-Everyone has dreamed of having the power to fight back against the powerful. Hulk is the greatest example.
4.Wolverine-he is just a bada$$. Michael Myers with indestructible skeleton and claws and super senses. Minus the evil.
5.Batman-The most bada$$ baseline human ever. Genius, inventor, peak human martial artist/gymnast. He can figure out how to beat almost anyone. Something for we 'flatscans' to aspire to.
6.Thor-Awesome character. Let's face it, people are intrigued by the god pantheons, and Thor is one of the coolest in comics.
7.Wonder Woman-If I was a girl, she would probably be higher on the list. She is the ultimate symbol of strength, beauty and capability for women. Guys get stuck at the boo-beees!! lol
8.X-Men-Cheating a bit here, but they have so many great characters and titles. One of the best group comics ever.
9.Black Panther-Completely intriguing character with skillsets and equipment that kinda mix Cap, Iron Man and Wolverine with a crown and diplomatic immunity.
10.Captain America-C'mon. Cap's a legend. Amazing peak human skills+unbreakable boomeranging shield=awesomeness.

@Intruder- I'm sorry, you don't know what you are talking about. Saying that the worlds greatest heroes is tie between spidey and bats. Personally I don't like reading spider-man comics but he is one of the best superheroes. F#@! it, Marvel can give spidey whatever title they want.

Intruder is right. Another thing that makes Spidey one of the best is his struggles. He has a hard life, and he fights people much more powerful than him and finds a way to win through heart and brains even when his power may not be enough. He has more heart than just about any superhero ever. He doesn't always win, but he never gives up. Superman is 1 of the most compassionate, but his power is so great, when he is really tested, it is on a level we don't relate to like with Spidey...except when he 'died' to save everyone from Doomsday.

Superman has unlimited power, and isn't he kind of slow even for someone who has that immense power? Spider-Man doesn't have unlimited power, and he thrives on helping people. Spider-Man is selfless and has the just one of us schtick.

Well Marvel and DC are separate and not the same. Both can still be said the greatest superhero in each universe.

Spiderman is my favorite superhero of all time, as of late, no so much, but good thing I have a lot of old issues to keep me excited about spidey.
The past few years (4) have being so LAME, yes very VERY LAME, stories, drawing and concepts, spider island where everybody gets spider powers ?? REALLY ????
until they do something that justifies that 'tag line' then, I will go back and buy this title, other than that I don't give a rat's ass.
Fix spiderman, no more swinging mouthfull clown with no regrets and no personal story, kill aunt May and reverse OMD !!!
F*CK IT !

I really liked the Spiderman that made the hardest deciisions and lived with the consequences...
NO the one that gave everything for a QUICK FIX with Mephisto, that's BS !!!
what kind of crap was that ? I don't relate to that...

I myself tend to think Iron Man is the world greatest superhero. Who else think of the Earth's future with renewable energy, condom dispensers and weather control satellite. Okay some writers have written him as a profiteer and he has a lot of vices in the past. But unlike most heroes his reach is global and he plots for a better future for humanity. Leave the crime and arson scene to Spider-Man or Daredevil.

Didn't see anyone with a spider on their chest on 9/11 but I did see a guy with an "S" shield on his hazmat suit. So who is the worlds greatest hero again? Hard to look up to Spiderman when he is on the ground half the time from gettin his ass kicked and crying over Mary Jane, the only pussy he has ever had.

PoPcornDude - 10/14/2011, 9:04 PM
@ intruder:
they have to, I totally agree with you, if they did it with Daredevil, why not spidey ???

@nexthero:
on 9/11 everybody wanted to be Superman but reality was, we all were Spidey,

what's more realistic? wanted to be something we are not or beign someone we all ready are...

*Yeah, Spidey married to MJ again.
*Back at the Bugle/Front Line- whatever, just taking photos again.
*And his life sucking again, so we don't feel alone.(kidding-although probably true for some)
*But there is one thing since OMD that's been entertaining: J.Jonah Jameson, Mayor of New York. He acts like a dictator in his own little fiefdom. Fun to read.

Speaking of team-up's, I have to say the best team-up one shot I ever read- and all time favorite- is 'The Darkness vs.Batman'. It's an amazing story and the art equals it. There's this full page scene were Batman goes to question the Joker in Arkham about a series of murders, and the Joker say(so phugging funny the first time I read it) ," Time is money, money is funny,I AM FUNNY , therefore I am time!" And then he starts cracking up.
