COMICS: THOR: RAGNAROK's Valkyrie Is (Sort Of) Coming To The Marvel Universe

Marvel has a weird habit of incorporating characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the comic books and if you thought a new Editor-in-Chief would change that, think again! Now, Thor: Ragnarok's Valkyrie is coming to the company's monthly titles in the upcoming Exiles series as the previously unrevealed fifth member of the team but this version hails from an alternate universe.

"The Exiles version of Valkyrie is a bit different from what we've seen in comics thus far," explains series writer Saladin Ahmed. "Our Valkyrie is known as the Lone Defender of Asgard, and she's a tankard-draining, maiden-wooing, giant-slaying thunderbolt of a woman. Though she's not technically from the Marvel Cinematic Universe reality, she's basically the literalization of the larger-than-her-physical-frame swagger Tessa Thompson displayed in Thor: Ragnarok, turned up to 11."

Exiles is going to be all about alternate universe versions of various Marvel heroes so this Valkyrie's appearance makes sense even if it does feel a little forced and arguably unnecessary. What do you guys think? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

@KrazyForKomix - Exiles is about alternate universe characters actually.

@KrazyForKomix - But this is an alternate reality one though. So even alternate reality versions of the character have to be totally the same as the 616 ones?

@KnightKnight512

You know what they'll do. Stop pretending they won't.

It's natural they tend to bring the comics closer to the films. It's where the money is.

@Fogs - Kinda weird actually, the adaptations grow beyond the fame of its source material

@MalseMarcel - Yeap. Weird but I don't think this trend will end anytime soon.

I remember when it happened to the X-Men. Ultimate X-Men came right after the film, if memory serves me right.

@Fogs - This trend won't end soon indeed. Not only for comics, but I have the feeling more and more big blockbuster movies are based on (not all to familiar) books

@Fogs - Quite the opposite actually. Every time the comics copied something from the films to draw in the filmgoers it does nothing at all.

@BritishMonkey - But they'll keep on doing it, lol.

@Fogs - Of course! Because they're not very bright people, very arrogant and will do anything to try and earn more readership and money.

@BritishMonkey - Well, to be fair readership and money are both awesome.

I just wish they had more... creative ways of trying to reach it tho, lol.

Good design. Nice to see Kirby's influence on the costume.

Marvel should create a new imprint for all their movie-version characters.

Call it the Ultimate Universe. I'm sure it make loads of money.
