This November, celebrate the milestone 100th Issue Anniversary of the Human Rocket with the supersonically supersized Nova #10! High adventure in deep space from the team of Zeb Wells & Carlo Barberi. But that’s not all! Nova #10 also features the debut of new regular Nova writer Gerry Duggan (Deadpool) in a story drawn by superstar Nova artist Paco Medina!

Since acquiring the Nova Force it’s been a bumpy ride for fifteen year-old Sam Alexander! Fighting alongside Rocket Raccoon & Gamora, a not-so-nice encounter with the Superior Spider-Man – not to mention a run in with Thanos and his Black Order! But that’s all about to change! Big changes are coming for Nova, and it starts here! (Oh, and did we mention a guest appearance by the new New Warriors setting up their All-New Marvel Now! series in February?)

“It took us a few decades to get to #100 and Zeb’s wrap up along with Gerry’s explosive debut story is a perfect way to celebrate this well-earned anniversary,” says Senior Editor Stephen Wacker. “With the Nova Corps showing up in next summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Marvel’s coolest new hero is going to have a huge spotlight and this is the place where Nova blasts off big time!”

Don’t miss the start of a bombastic new beginning for Marvel’s sentinel of the stars when Nova #10 rockets into print and digital this November!

Whose intervention ensured Star Trek saw the light of day?

Lucille Ball

Most people recognize and remember Lucille Ball as the lovable and silly star of one of America’s earliest and most loved sitcoms, I Love Lucy. What most people don’t know is that Lucille was a savvy business woman and that she and her husband Desi Arnaz had amassed a small fortune and owned their own studio, Desilu.

It was at Desilu that acclaimed Sci-Fi screenwriter and visionary Gene Roddenberry got his big break. Roddenberry pitched the Star Trek pilot to the studio as a sort of Western-inspired space adventure. While many within the studio balked at the idea, Lucille liked the idea and the first pilot was approved and filmed. The pilot was pitched to NBC and was promptly rejected on the grounds that it was too intellectual, not enough like the space-western they had been lead to believe it would be, and audiences wouldn’t relate to it. Lucille, a fan of Roddenberry’s work, pushed back against NBC and insisted they order a second pilot. Ordering a second pilot was a practice almost entirely unheard of and save for Lucille’s charisma and clout with the network it would never have happened.

Roddenberry shot the second pilot, NBC accepted it, and Star Trek premiered in 1966, thus beginning a new era in the Sci-Fi genre and laying the foundation for half a century of Star Trek fandom–an era that would have never come to pass without the intervention and insistence of Lucille Ball.

Bonus Trivia: After her divorce from Arnaz, Lucille bought out his share of their studio. As a result she became the first woman to both head and own a major studio. (*)

Pretty nice art! I''ve been interested in checking this out, but I feel like I should read the other Nova series first.

100th issue and no DnA or Marv Wolfman. Pathetic. Everyone should stop buying this piece of crap immediately.

NOVA-PRIME (RICH RIDER) MUST RETURN. I really am growing tired of this little twerp, but if they bring Rich back (in all his Nova-Prime glory; he can mentor the twerp) THEN and only THEN will I start reading Marvel again. I quit when they killed Rider off.

If the first incarnation of Nova to his the big screen is this little twerp I'm DONE.

Rich Rider or GTFO.

@cosmicman, well put. Its a TOTAL insult to have a 100th issue that doesn't feature Rich Rider.

There is only ONE true NOVA: Rich Rider, Nova-Prime.

If I had a dollar for every [frick]ing time I saw a comment saying, "I want Richard Rider back", I'd be rich. [frick]ing hell

This series is pretty great, and at least Sam Alexander has some personality.

Richard Rider is the definitive Nova. Sam Alexander is pointless, even his costume. It combines the Denarian, Centurion and Prime suits and it just sucks to see my favourite character and his mythos get shat on. You can go ahead and enjoy the series, Sam just doesn't interest me at all.

Pretty good series so far. Rich needs to come back though, Sam cant handle the big boy stuff just yet. It took Richard years to properly establish himself.

@Spandex, that's because everyone wants Rich back and hates this new bastardized version.

Issue #100 has no meaning whatsoever if the Nova from the first 90 issues isn't in it. Who gives a crap about the little boy Nova from the last 10 issues anyway?
