The previous two arcs with the FF and Avengers Academy have only been alright at best, more "Marvel Team-Up" than Spidey. The last issue brought the series back into focus with the return of Anti-Venom. I gave it a good review, how does this one fare? Read on.

This issue was a good one, the best in awhile, beating the last one. Anti-Venom is one of the best characters currently in Amazing, him being on the panels is truly a treat.

Mr. Negative takes center stage as villain in this one. This guy has been in the shadows far too long, it's good to see him fight.

Talking characters, Anti-Venom is by far the most interesting and compelling. His character resembles Venom back when he was a lethal protector, with a hint of crazy. The other character that's a vital part is “The Ghost of Jean DeWolff:" the Wraith. Surprisingly, she wasn't really a main focus, more of a side helper. Her plot gets resolved in a stunning, classic plot twist that I never saw coming. It makes me happy that the Spidey series can still come and give a good surprise.

Side people, such as Aunt May act accordingly. Sadly, JJJ is back to being his "Blame Spider-Man on everything" persona. (How can New York tolerate this guy as mayor?)

The art is top-notch, Anti-Venom looks scary and everyone else looks accordingly.

In closing, this issue is a very good one, I'd even say great.

I give this issue an 8/10.

Good review as always Destroyer. I enjoyed this issue, and I agree that JJJ really needs to grow up and get over Spider-man being a menace, hes an AVENGER!!!! He works with the Fantastic Foundation, he battled in Siege and he still gives him crap over being a Menace, how do these New Yorkers allow this man to be the Mayor....also nice to see Carlie growing up a bit. Shes still pestering Peter but they finally are going somewhere in their lives, but why won't he just come out and say he is Spider-man, why go the "I Build his tech" excuse..its going to come back and bite him in the end. I'm sure the Spider Island event will have huge ramifications in this title

Thanks CC87. Yeah, I honestly think that Spidey should have revealed his identity to Carly. "Trust" much? It's not going to work without it. And man, JJJ has to seriously let that go, it's becoming TOO much of a running gag.

@Destroyer...I agree, I bet Carlie is going to find out that Peter is Spider-man in the Spider Island event, I bet thats when they are going to reveal that, or he will work a way around that too. Its beyond a running gag, its now a sad punchline to his character.
