As reported by Matt Goldberg from Collider.com. Despite the seeming chaos of the hall, there is actually a method to the madness. Major companies get the center (except for video game companies which get their own corner), artists are shunted as far off to the side as possible, and most of the sellers inhabit one-half of the hall.
But where the crush truly happens is at the insane lines circling the major companies as fans line up for swag and autographs. The usual suspects are all here: DC Comics, Marvel, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Mattel, LucasFilm, CBS/Showtime, Lionsgate, Hasbro, and Sideshow Collectibles. I’m not sure why Square-Enix gets such a large booth considering everything they make nowadays is crap.
The 2011 San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 21 – 24th. http://www.comic-con.org/
Both Marvel's "The Avengers" and "Captain America" will have a presence at Comic Con after all, but not in the way you'd expect.
There definitely won't be a Hall H presentation, but First Showing reports that 'Avengers' will make big use of the floor. Much like last year where Odin's Throne was a big set piece on display, it's thought a "massive Helicarrier bridge" set could serve that purpose this year.
Marvel will ramp up the viral marketing angle with "S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel" scattered around along with vehicles on hand. Some of the main cast members are also expected to pop in for signings at Marvel's booth, while a new teaser trailer is expected to be shown at the con.
Both Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy are confirmed to be at the Con this year promoting other movies so it wouldn't be a huge surprise if one or both showed up briefly to discuss "Man of Steel" and "The Dark Knight Returns" respectively.
All event and program rooms have limited capacity as set by the Fire Marshal. Even though your badge is needed to get into all events, it does not guarantee you access to any event if it has reached its capacity.
