DC Studios' new DCU is quickly starting to take shape, with Creature Commandos and Waller expected to hit Max (previously known as HBO Max) before Superman: Legacy arrives in theaters in 2025.
With only Joker: Folie à Deux set to be released next year, we're expecting a good 18 months or so of casting news as the DCEU's successor begins coming together. James Gunn will be behind the camera for the Man of Tomorrow's return to the big screen, but what about some of the other movies on the way?
According to sources that have been "verified" by the r/DCEULeaks moderators, both The Authority and Batman reboot The Brave and the Bold have locked in their respective filmmakers.
While we're taking this with a pinch of salt for now, it's said X-Men: First Class and Kingsman: The Secret Service helmer Matthew Vaughn is going to bring The Authority to theaters. That team seems like a perfect fit for the director, especially when the comic book series is one his frequent collaborator, Mark Millar, once worked on.
The Brave and the Bold, meanwhile, is a movie unrelated to The Batman franchise that will focus on the DCU's Bruce Wayne training his son, Damian Wayne, as the new Robin.
We had expected Ben Affleck to take the helm of that project, but following recent comments from the actor and director, it's clear he doesn't want to be part of DC Studios' plans for the franchise. Instead, it's said that The Flash helmer Andy Muschietti has been tapped to take charge of this reboot.
Plenty of good things have been said about his work on The Flash, so we perhaps shouldn't be surprised by this news. Again, nothing has been confirmed and we're sure Gunn will chime in soon enough to debunk these claims...if they're incorrect!
How would you feel about Vaughn and Muschietti potentially joining the DCU?
