Regardless of whether you call it the DCEU or SnyderVerse, that world is now dead. DC Studios is (mostly) starting from scratch, telling a new story with new actors...and a few familiar faces from The Suicide Squad.
With Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) and Sean Gunn (Weasel) the only actors currently confirmed to be part of the DCU - the fates of actors like Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, and Ezra Miller are less clear - there are those who believe Gunn is only looking after his cast from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.
We'd argue that's somewhat jumping the gun, but as much backlash as that's caused, it's nothing compared to how many members of the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse movement have reacted to the "Gods and Monsters" slate reveal.
They're so disappointed to see the end of the DCEU as they knew it, #FireJamesGunn even briefly trended on Twitter. However, it was quickly overshadowed by fans expressing their delight about movies such as The Brave and the Bold and Superman: Legacy.
"Let's ignore the mid slate and focus on this. #FireJamesGunn #SellZSJLtoNetflix," one person declared, hoping Zack Snyder's Justice League franchise will live on at Netflix (no, we're not sure how that would work either).
Someone else, clearly unaware of how a shared world works, added: "[You're] locked into to watch all the mid TV shows to understand the movies lmao good luck #FireJamesGunn." Another argued, "yall have to start over from scratch for nearly a decade instead of just letting zack finish his movies like next year. F*** yall #FireJamesGunn."
We'll leave it there.
It's time to move on, though some DC fans clearly aren't willing to do so given the cult-like mentality that now surrounds Snyder's contributions to the DCEU.
Can you imagine #RestoreTheRaimiVerse and #RestoreTheWebbVerse constantly coming up when Tom Holland was cast as Spider-Man in the MCU? This is a very strange mentality, but it appears there's no pleasing the SnyderVerse die-hards with even the promise of a full slate clearly leaving them angrier and more underwhelmed than ever before.
