BOX OFFICE: DEADPOOL On Course To Be A Hit As It Takes Aim At $55+ Million Opening

Despite opening against Zoolander 2, Deadpool is taking aim at the #1 spot during the long Presidents Day/Valentine's Day weekend with an impressive $55 million! However, it could go even higher than that thanks to the movie's unique marketing campaign, so read on for details!

Deadpool looks set to dominate this year's Valentine's Day, with the Ryan Reynolds led movie currently tracking to open with an impressive $55 million. Despite competition from Zoolander 2 and How to Be Single, the R-Rated comic book adaptation should easily take the #1 spot, a great start for a movie which Fox considered too risky to make for several years. Prerelease tracking indicates that Deadpool is generating major interest with both men and women, and with some analysts predicting as much as $60 million, that figure could actually rise as the studio ups the marketing campain in the next few weeks. Kingsman: The Secret Service earned $41.8 million during the same weekend in 2015, but faced stiffer competition from Fifty Shades of Grey. Neither Zoolander 2 nor How to Be Single are expected to go too far beyond $20 million, so the Merc with the Mouth has a clear path ahead of him to become the box office champ! Will you be there on opening day? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on this in the usual place.

The Deadpool budget is so small it doesn't need China to break even

@Mr Positive

Yeah most of the movie takes place on a bridge , so they didn't have to spent a ton of money on sets 😛

@scorpo Maybe Box Office but not Budget

@MrPositive it is an r rated CBM that isn't opening in one of he biggest markets for superhero movies. It will make 500 mil if people go to see it repeatedly. Even then it probably won't break 400 mil

Me and my buddy was just talking about this movie earlier

We both agreed that this movie WILL BE GOOD( if you're a Deadpool fan) and we highly doubt it will fail in the box office.

It's almost crazy talk to think this movie will fail now.

I don't like the Fox-men movies but I love Deadpool, so I hope this does well. Then maybe we could get a Cable and Deadpool movie done right.

I'll be purchasing tickets for about five of my friends very soon. I gotta support Fox when they respect the source material.

Nope, especially if the budget is $35-50million

@Jollem:

Yeah, I never understood why people obsess over money that they are not even getting. Kinda like people paying money to rappers who talk the cars they drive, and the women they sleep with.

Really kinda retarded, if you ask me.

I'll be seeing it every weekend. Gotta support a well done r rated movie, so we can get more! ~_~
