DEADPOOL: Josh Brolin Addresses Possible Cable Return; Reveals He Was Signed Up For Four Movies

Following the Disney/Fox merger, the Deadpool franchise is now under the control of Marvel Studios. Josh Brolin played Cable in Deadpool 2, of course, while he's best known to fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thanos. Luckily, these characters are different enough that the door has to be open to the actor returning as the time-travelling mutant down the line...right?

It all depends on how Marvel Studios plans to introduce mutants to this shared world, but during a recent virtual spotlight panel at ACE Universe, Brolin opened up on Cable's possible MCU future.

"Deadpool worked out very much in my favour," he says in the video below. "Deadpool was supposed to be four movies. Maybe there’ll be more - I don’t know what Marvel has in store - but it turned out to be one really fun movie for me."

Brolin is being quite a bit more complimentary about his Deadpool 2 experience here than in the past as he previously said his role in the sequel felt like a "business transaction." In that interview, he heaped praise on Marvel Studios, so now Deadpool 3 is being produced by Kevin Feige and company, the pieces could all fall into place for Cable to be part of the threequel.

It's also interesting that Brolin mentions what sounds like a four-picture deal as Cable. Chances are that was meant to encompass Deadpool 3, X-Force, and a possible solo spinoff, but his contract would likely have to be renegotiated now that it's Disney calling the shots.
