Rob Liefeld's art is a divisive topic among many comic book fans but his contributions to the Marvel Universe are significant and bound to be felt once again in the upcoming Deadpool sequel. To remind us of that fact, Fandango has unveiled a new poster which sees Rob Liefeld team with colourist Mike Capprotti (they've worked together many times) to recreate 1991's New Mutants #98 iconic cover.

"The cover to New Mutants #98 has become an iconic image, and it is the comic that introduced Deadpool and Domino to the world," Liefeld tells the site as tickets finally go on sale. "New Mutants #98 has become a key image in the comic book pantheon, so I thought it would be great to pay homage
with the movie cast… and I gotta be honest, man - it turned out better than I imagined!"

The poster will be available through Fandango when you buy tickets from them and you can see the comparison to the comic book version below. It's definitely a great looking piece of artwork anyway and a great way to promote the release of Deadpool 2. What do you guys think? Would you like to see more posters which borrow from the source material? Weigh in with your thoughts down below.

Zazie Beetz Domino could’ve looked like her comic book counterpart. I don’t think it would’ve been racist or anything that would’ve offended anyone.

I remember buying this issue and being like "WTF??? Rob Liefeld sucks".

This was such a transformative moment in the industry though. its when the artists took over the books and masterminds like Chris Claremont were pushed out. It ushered in the 90s orgy of armored blade-and-pouch-covered muscles and bikinis struggling to stretch over boobs. It was insanely popular in some ways, but the storylines have never really recovered.

Could have fit Negasonic, Bedlam, and Peter on the bottom left.

At least Liefeld didn't just steal another Schwarzenegger pose for Colossus.
