Pixar Animation Studios is about to change things up as far as their upcoming projects go.
Producer Mark Neilsen has recently revealed that the next films after the release of their latest film, Toy Story 4, will be "all original films after this one right now." This comes as a change in course of direction thanks to the newest chief creative officer Pete Docter, which Neilsen states, "He's really looking out for the new voices & really loading up the development pool."
Docters was responsible for Up & Inside Out, two original Pixar entrys that recieved wide critical-acclaim. Because of this, he was given the chief creative job from Pixar co-founder John Lasseter last June, after he was put on paid leave & then left the company due to sexual misconduct allegations.
Mark Neilsen then added that there's "a lot of optimism about the future of the studio", while another producer, Jonas Rivera, noted about the new Pixar, "In some ways it's unrecognizable. So much has happened. In some ways, it's the same. There's the same spirit.
Toy Story 4 will release onto shelves June 21st, & it will focus on Woody reuniting with his love, Bo Peep, all while showing newcomer, Forky, what it means to be a toy. Pixar's next movie after that will be an original title called Onward, which will be a fantasy adventure starring Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) & Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming), & that'll be out on March 6th, 2020.
From this point on, every project Pixar works on will NOT be a sequel one of their already existing properties.
Are you looking forward to the supposed final Toy Story adventure? How do you feel about the future of Pixar?
