THE LION KING: Disney (Finally) Confirms Beyoncé As The Voice Of Nala & Reveals The Entire Voice Cast
After several months of speculation, Walt Disney Studios has officially confirmed Beyoncé as the voice of Nala in Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action adaptation of The Lion King. Come take a look!
It's official. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter (Dreamgirls) will star opposite Donald Glover (Spider-Man: Homecoming) in Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action adaptation of the Disney classic, The Lion King.
With filming currently underway, Disney has finally revealed the entire voice cast, which is headlined by Glover as the hero of the piece, Simba. Knowles-Carter will voice his lady love Nala while the legendary James Earl Jones (1994's The Lion King) will return as the iconic voice of Mufasa. Chiwetal Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) will voice Simba's evil uncle Scar and Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage) will voice Simba's mother Sarabi.
JD McCrary (The Paynes) and Shahadi Wright Joseph (Broadway's The Lion King) have been tapped to voice the young Simba and Nala, respectively.
As for our key supporting players, Disney has cast John Kani (Captain America: Civil War) as the voice of the wise baboon Rafiki, John Oliver (Last Week Tonight) as the voice of the hornbill Zazu, Seth Rogen (The Disaster Artist) as the voice of the lovable warthog Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner (Parks and Recreation) as the voice of the knowledgable meerkat Timon.
To round out the rest of the cast, we have the three hyenas, Shenzi, Azizi, and Kamari, who will be voiced by Florence Kasumba (Black Panther), Eric André (Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23), and Keegan-Michael Key (The Predator), respectively.
Favreau (The Jungle Book; Iron Man) is helming the picture with a script from Jeff Nathanson (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales). Favreau is also onboard as a producer alongside Jeffrey Silver (Edge of Tomorrow) and Karen Gilchrist (The Jungle Book).
Also, to cap things off, Hans Zimmer (Blade Runner 2049), who won an Academy Award for his score for 1994 original, will return to score the upcoming remake.
