DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Bringing Back Rachel McAdams' Dr. Christine Palmer

It looked like Rachel McAdams might be finished with the Marvel Cinematic Universe after her disappointing role in 2016's Doctor Strange, but the actress has now closed a deal to join the upcoming sequel.

Deadline confirms that Rachel McAdams will reprise her Doctor Strange role as Dr. Christine Palmer in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

It was beginning to look like the actress was going to give the Marvel Studios sequel a miss. That wouldn't have been overly surprising given how limited her part in the first instalment was, as the talented actress was very much relegated to being a typical superhero movie love interest.

With Sam Raimi directing this follow-up, it appears something may have changed.

Plot details are few and far between, but McAdams now joins a cast which includes Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, Benedict Wong as Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo, and Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch. Newcomer Xochitl Gomez was also recently added to the cast, presumably as America Chavez.

Production is expected to begin in London early next year once Cumberbatch is finished shooting his role as Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 3

If this sequel is going to delve into the Marvel Multiverse, it could be a game changer for this shared world, and is clearly tied to WandaVision in some way. The prevailing theory is that Strange will make a cameo appearance in the Disney+ series, no doubt leading to his team-up - or battle - with Wanda.

Stay tuned for more casting news!

I hope they can give her a little more to do, cause I love Rachel McAdams.

@MosquitoFarmer - I don't imagine it being more than a cameo, this movie is already packed to the brim with characters.

@MosquitoFarmer - Hell yeah, I hope too. She was TOTALLY WASTED in first movie. Fingers crossed this time they actually use even 10% of her talent.

@MosquitoFarmer - Same. She warms my heart every time I see her (as long as her isn't dying).

She will definitely become Night Nurse. Probably blend in the Linda Carter version.

I always though tit would be dope if Stephen brought her into the world of sorcery and had her as Medical Sorcerer. Someone who would become a medical mage of sorts.

She did jack shit in the first film so for her to come back, she must have a substantial part.

Why? Maybe in a very minor role, but it'd make more sense to introduce Clea in Doctor Strange 2 and have Clea as his ally/potential love interest setting up a dynamic for Clea to be taken over by Dormammu as the villain of the third film - think akin to X-Men 3 with Wolverine and Jean.

I know they can't reveal it but I'm desperately hoping Paul Bettany also appears as Vision in some form. If WandaVision doesn't definitely ressurect my boy Vision I hope this movie does

@Blergh -
Infinity War had them backup Vision's mind - so in theory he can come back whenever they want.
