Marvel has yet to release any official stills or posters for Eternals (they can't be too far away), but because the movie was originally supposed to hit theatres last November before being pushed back by a full year, promo and merchandise art continues to find its way online.

This latest artwork gives us arguably our best look yet at some of The Celestials, the ancient entities with incredibly powerful matter and energy manipulation abilities who existed long before the MCU's galaxy began to take shape. Here, we see Hargen the Measurer, Jemiah the Analyzer and Nezaar the Calculator.

Director Chloe Zhao recently revealed a surprising source of inspiration for the film's action sequences: Alejandro Iñárritu's 2015 Revisionist Western, The Revenant.

“Well, there’s multiple films for Eternals. I had to assign a few because of the scale of the film. But I think for the action sequences, which I just had such a great time working on with such a great team, I wanted to reference The Revenant a lot,” Zhao told The Playlist. "The Revenant is a film that I love so much. And I think we’ve watched The Revenant so many times, every meeting when we come to our action sequences because most of those sequences are shot on location. And I love how immersive and the way how you feel the dash and sequences in The Revenant. It’s definitely a film that we aspire to. And Marvel really, really supported that idea and really went for it.”

Well, consider us even more intrigued! Zhao's latest film, Nomadland, is up for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and with good reason. If you haven't seen it yet, it's well worth checking out.

The cosmic superhero adventure stars Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as the cosmic-powered Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Salma Hayak as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young Sprite, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as the aloof Druig, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena. Kit Harrington will also appear as Dane Whitman, aka Black Knight.

Marvel Studios' Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind's most ancient enemy, The Deviants.

Marvel's Eternals is set to hit theaters on November 4.

Very Bay Formers-esque...

@Se4M4NSt4ine - I got that vibe as well or Pacific Rim

@Se4M4NSt4ine - I see comparing them to pacific rim but not transformers. Bayformers are just a cg blur while these seem to have elaborate detail.

Hopefully they look better in motion, for now they look very Fant4stic Doctor Doom

They look so much like Days of Future Past’s Sentinels.

@DerekLake - I mean kinda. Didn't really even notice the similarities until you said so.

@Origame - It’s mostly the blue one. It’s the proportions, the dark colors and the glowy eyes really

@DerekLake - I can see it a bit more there. Idk, the scaly look on those sentinels is what really stood out with those so I just don't see it as that similar.

Are these when the celestials were just born or something? Eson the searcher looked nothing like these in GOTG and looked much better.

Shouldn’t we have a trailer by now?

@WruceBayne - It's coming out in November, and we only just got our first look at Shang-Chi. We'll get to the official Eternals promotion circus in time.

Don't like these designs. Would have preferred Kirby's designs. It seems nowadays everything has to have a sleek look look it for that cool effect. Like JFerguson said Eson looked nothing like this, what happened between 2014 and now. I guess someone at the art department watched Days of Future Past one to many times.

"Well, there’s multiple films for Eternals. I had to assign a few because of the scale of the film."
What is he saying? Is it just that there are many sequels planned and there will be a few because how big the movie.

@Neo3 - She's saying the crew is huge & she had to assigned certain movies, that she wanted to reference in Eternals, because a lot of the crew hadn't seen them & going person to person wasn't a option here.

@Neo3 - I thought the Kirby design is too goofy?
Neo3
Neo3 - 4/24/2021, 6:04 PM
@solskulldeath - Really? I just don't like it so much how the movies change so much from the comics. Remember when Disney bought Marvel the big thing was 6000 characters, now it seems they just use the name and change everything else. To me Kirby's design was fuller gave the celestial a more formidable look. Now they look like they could be taken down in one hit.

@4thMaster - Thanks. You would think a crew for a movie like this they at least would be familiar with the MCU.
4thMaster
4thMaster - 4/25/2021, 10:06 AM
@Neo3 - I imagine they get a lot of normies to work on it, and other assigned movies, like The Revenant are not mainstream enough.

@Neo3 - The movies are not the comics. They are adaptations. There are influences, inspirations, and homages, but other than that the MCU isn't a carbon copy of the comics, nor should they be. By storytelling or aesthetic.
MrMediocre
MrMediocre - 4/26/2021, 4:02 AM
@Neo3 - I mean, the MCU already has an established aesthetic. They can't just drop that and go with the 1960's look, it'd clash with what average viewers are used to. I know comic fans would appreciate it, but we AREN'T the target demographic anymore.

After seeing this, I'm guessing it will be pretty easy to ret-con Galactus as some kind of a celestial (when the time comes to introduce him.)

Don't care for the designs, but at least they seem to keep the general form. I preferred the chunky Kirby-esque look from GotG.
