EDITORIAL: The Key To The DC Movie Franchise

Well constant readers it seems that DC Cinematic World has come to a very slow hum. Where should Warner Bros. go from here?

Many fans including myself were outraged at the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman in the Man of Steel sequel. Why recast such a beloved character so soon, especially when the masculine Christian Bale would have returned with enough dolla bills thrown at him?

Earlier today a rumor circulated that Ben Affleck had a serious injury that push back the filming awhile. To quote this very site:

According to Batman-News, sources tell them that Ben Affleck has suffered a leg injury, resulting in Batman vs. Superman production being pushed back by six weeks.
As we later found out, the so-called Batman VS. Superman movie has officially been postponed 10 whole months. While the press release failed to mention if there was any truth to the earlier rumor, I think it's safe to say that was at least a contributing factor.

So what should Warner Bros. do about this? NOT postpone almost a full year that's for sure!

Let's back-track 2 years. Commissioner Gordon actor Gary Oldman was asked if The Dark Knight Rises felt like a proper conclusion to the Batman series. Here's what he had to say, verbatim:

Whether they will make more, my guess is probably. I mean, they don’t have [the Harry Potter franchise] anymore. So, there could be a Batman 4 & 5.
He DID however go on to say that he doubts that him and Bale would return.. but it doesn't sound like he'd be unwilling to make another. There's a glimmer of hope in there somewhere. And what was one of the themes of the Nolan trilogy?
HOPE

Christian Bale, the Batman himself, has stated that he'd be open to returning if the director and script were good. Anne Hathaway has been open to returning and especially wanted a Catwoman spin-off.
Not to mention the way The Dark Knight Rises ended. There was so much potential to continue the story. John Blake could have a future story, Batman didn't die, almost all of the villains could make a possible return, and not to mention the potential for Robin/Nightwing under a new director.

Bringing back Christian Bale could make it to where we don't have to wait another ten months to see them face off. Batman's supposed death and return could make for an epic plot point in a future movie, and Christian Bale made an excellent Bruce Wayne and Batman that I'd love to see more of, not to mention the excellent performances by Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cillian Murphy.

It's been said that the Nolan Batman couldn't even take down a pack of dogs, how could he even stand a remote chance in taking down Superman? Well, during those eight years between TDK and TDKR, though he wasn't actively the Batman, I'm sure he did lots of training and exercising. He can come up with more gadgets too. And if you just write it in a clever enough way--looking at you David Goyer--you can definitely make it believable.

Please share your thoughts in the comment section. And remember, let's respect each other's opinion.

Christian Bale is never coming back dude, let it go. Yes he was the best Batman yet, but there wasn't much to compete with. If you really think a rumored leg injury to Affleck caused the movie to be delayed for 10 months... no.

As a big fan of The Dark Knight Trilogy, I DON'T want someone to continue that story, perhaps except Christopher Nolan himself continuing it with the original cast. As for your editorial, I get the impression that you don't like Batfleck, and you think he should be replaced by Christian Bale, especially when Batfleck is injured and resulting in postponing production. I get where you are coming from, but I cannot agree with you, as I don't want anyone (except Chris Nolan perhaps) to try and continue the story of TDKT that was wrapped so well.

You make it sound like the movie was cancelled, just pushed back 10 months, that's all.

Sorry, but in this case, I have no respect for your opinion. This is just stupid. No, Bale is NOT coming back. Unless you maybe have about $100 million to throw at him (it cracks me up how fanboys want studios to throw money around.) Quite frankly, the only character I would want to see again is Anne Hathaway's Catwoman. Oh, and ultimately, it was Catwoman who killed Bane.

Batman might have had trouble with dogs but he defatted the entire league of assassins whereas Oliver Queen (Arrowverse) struggled and lost to Malcom Meyrlyn (just one member of this formidable team). Whilst Bale took on Ra's and Bane and destroyed the Legaue's base of operations (monastery)

So it is more viable to have the Nolan Batman in the DC universe rather than CW's arrow which more grounded

Also Nolan Batman would wup Oliver's a**

This is really [frick]ing stupid, I'm sorry. You're saying Batman was TRAINING during the eight years when he was a HERMIT. Why couldn't he beat Bane then? Bale is NOT EVER coming back to play Batman.

@timdrake ARROW is a TV series!! And that has absolutely nothing to do with the TDK universe. Bruce barely defeated Ra's and the League of Assassins. You're just saying dumb childish things.

Keep the Nolanverse away. It worked by itself. If you try and match it up with another franchise shit's going to collapse.
