It's funny how he use to be the guy you couldn't make a movie about. His origins were always a mystery. Now, it's so convoluted it almost seems as if he's done everything there is, for about a year and then moves to something else. I've tried to compile a good and very gritty story that would take 3 movies to tell. I have taken liberties, as I always do.
As always, here are my prior Giant Origins.
Banshee, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Forge (replacing Thunderbird), Storm and Sunfire

Again, this is how I would reboot the X-men, meaning, I would first intro the Giant-size crew giving them there own movies. Wolverine's a 2-parter. That would lead me into the team. NO RECASTING. IT'S A REBOOT
I have to give props to http://www.wolverinefiles.com/ for sorting everything so that my story board makes as much sense as I'd like it too.
THE STORY: WOLVERINE
It bothered me that both Wolverine: Origins and First Class didn't fill like they were in a different era. Just sayin'
The story is intro'd by Romulus' voice. Every so often he takes you into the next "chapter" in the life of Wolverine.
Wolverine was born James Howlett, the son of rich plantation owners in late 19th Century Canada, and has long suffered from various allergies. His loving father, John Howlett, Jr., brings an orphaned girl named Rose up from the town to be his companion. The two children also often play with Dog Logan, son of the Howletts' cruel groundskeeper, Thomas Logan. The children's friendship is spoiled by the tension between the boys' fathers centering on James' mother, Elizabeth, who went mad after her first son, John, died under mysterious circumstances years earlier.
As a result of beatings and alcohol, Dog, over the next few months, becomes increasingly like his father, and his misdeeds, including an attempted assault on Rose or the killing of James' dog, become so violent that he and his father are expelled from the manor. Thomas returns for the purpose of robbing the Howlett estate and to convince Elizabeth to leave with him (it is implied that they had an affair and that Thomas may be the biological father of Elizabeth's sons).
John Howlett enters the bedroom after hearing noises. Thomas kills John Howlett with a shotgun blast in front of all three children and Elizabeth. The horror of his father's death causes James' powers to manifest for the first time, and he uses his claws to kill Thomas and injure Dog, before lapsing into shock. Rose gets James away. Elizabeth, surprisingly, cradles the body of Thomas Logan rather than that of her husband. After a few moments, Elizabeth, with her shallow grip on reality shattered, picks up Thomas' shotgun and kills herself.
Questioned by the police, Dog accuses Rose of the killings and the fact that she fled the scene with James appears to confirm this. James is in shock and appears to have no recollection of what happened. This is 15 minutes worth of film
Rose claims that her James is her cousin and he takes the name Logan as a form of self penance for his deeds.
After years of wondering from town to town, they find work, as young adults, in a stone quarry.
Gradually, Logan strengthens physically. He often goes into the woods to hunt game, typically among a pack of wolves, with only his claws.
Dog has been traveling the towns, searching for, and tracking down, Logan
Logan's public identity as her cousin makes it impossible for him to declare his own feelings for her, so he works out his violence in a series of cage fights. He also seems to get angst out by working intensively at the quarry, and is given the nickname Wolverine by the local population who compare his intense digging to a wolverine going after a root.
Dog comes to the quarry and is there for revenge. In the ensuing fight, Rose is accidentally impaled on Logan's claws. Logan held her in his arms as she died. Logan then kills Dog in a fit of rage. He goes mad with grief and runs into the woods, where he stays for some time, living like a wild animal.
Transitioning from the wild man he had been for so long back into that of a civilized person didn't come easy. Once he shed his wild ways he came across a tribe of Native Americans in the early 20th century. The Blackfoot tribe welcomed in the frontiersman. He fell in love with a member, Kayla Silverfox. He is with her for a few years.
He meets a traveling Victor Creed for the first time in a pub outside the confounds of the reservation. Instantly, Victor is jealous of the attention Logan receives from his tribesman. Creed "befriends" him and is, as well, taken in by the tribe, promising to assist in the same way as Logan. He reveals, to Logan, the similarities they share and schools him a bit.
Outshined in contests, Victor turns deadly. On Logan's birthday, he rapes and kills Kayla. Logan hears the screams but returns too late. Logan held her in his arms as she died. After a nasty fight, Logan leaves the tribe for good after he believes he killed Victor. A cloaked man smiles and disappears into the shadows.
THE SEQUEL: WOLVERINE: SAMURAI
Flashbacks begin the movie narrated by Romulus.
Logan finds himself back in cage fights. He soundly defeats the reigning champion known as "Patch.". He takes the loser's eye patch and wears it as a hunter would wear the hide of it's kill. Several months go by flashing across the screen and he always wears the patch.
As WWI begins, Logan finds, that with war, comes purpose; he joins. He is put with a secret training group, the Devil's Brigade. Romulus, the narrator, states that this act was done so under the "guise" of happenstance.
Battles flash quickly across the screen (akin to the actual "Jackman" movie) but the merciless beat downs Logan receives by his commanding officer, Silas Burr, are emphasized. 2 in particular. 1 in front of his date. Cyber leaves Logan in a pool of blood and is seen talking to the same cloaked man from the end of WOLVERINE. The cloaked man tells Cyber (it's Romulus, so the voice is familiar, as it's the narrator) to "Rape, maim and kill the girl."
Logan returns to the base, hungry for Burr. He charges in and filets his commander to death. As a result of the murder, he is placed in a number of prisons for the next few years. A nameless General states that "Burr was very profitable you fool. The Russians were looking for someone like him." Unknowing of his mutation, he is imprisoned.
Capped by stars is the "Get Mystique" storyline detailing Mexico with no deviations. So, if you know the story, skip it.
*****Logan is on death row at a Mexican prison. Tied to a post in front of a shooting squad, Logan meets Raven (Mystique) who is about to share the same fate. As the firing squad opens fire, Logan breaks free of his bonds and beats the soldiers to death. The two depart for a bar in Nogales, as Raven makes a pitch for the two of them to work together in Kansas City.
In Kansas City, Raven introduces Logan to her team of grifters. When a scam gets unexpectedly exposed, Logan shows his worth by stepping in and scaring off the troublemakers. Later that night, Raven tries to convince Logan to help out on a big score.
The big score is revealed to be the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and before long Raven and her band of misfits are holding the employees hostage as Soapy cracks open the safe. Unfortunately, five heavily armed police officers are waiting inside.
Instead of arresting the motley crew of grifters, the police officers shoot them down in cold blood. Logan, waiting outside with the getaway car, runs in and is confronted by the police. But it is quickly revealed that Logan sold the crew out for the reward money, though in the chaos, Raven escapes. Later, Logan slips aboard a boxcar leaving town and comes face to face with Raven. Logan accuses Raven of using him all along, and in response, she says cryptically, “Maybe so. But I guess we’ll never know for sure.” As Logan turns to find a different car to sleep in, Raven kicks him in the back, sending him flying off the train.
************
Sick of the Western world, Logan travels to Japan.
The next scene is Logan boarding a plane. Old man receiving tickets asks Logan, "What brings you to Japan, son? It's a long way from home, soldier." "Pop, I been around for a long, time and trouble seems to follow me where ever I go. Guess I'm just trying to out run trouble."
He learns the way of the samurai and meets a young woman, Itsu. This is his longest relationship, years, and he feels at peace.
A few towns over there are reports of a killer on the loose. He is a copycat killer, mimicking the gruesome murders executed by Jack the Ripper. Even in there town, the people are cautious.
Logan tells Itsu he will return soon and that he loves her. The mutant samurai heads out to kill the "Ripper" only to find out that it is Victor Creed.
Creed, admits that he came "a long way to kill (Logan), but (his) birthday's tomorrow. (He's) early.
After a quick battle that Victor comes out on top of, by gutting Logan and dumping his body in the water, he remarks to himself "Makes my skin crawl when people call me as a copycat; after so many years a guy tends to repeat himself here and there." Insinuating is was the original Jack the Ripper.
Logan kicks the door in and drops helplessly to the ground as the remains of his dead wife's PREGNANT body are slung across the room. "I didn't even sleep with this one, not my type," says Victor as he emerges from the darkness.
Logan makes sure to leave him in a pulpy mess this time, assuming that, if he's not dead, he won't try and find him again.
He is chased away/banned due to the town believing him to be the killer.
The cloaked man enters the murder scene and drops the hood. We see his uncanny resemblance to both Creed and Logan. He uses his Logan-esque claws to rip the stomach of Itsu and reach into her. For humane purposes, we won't see what he's doing, but comic fans will know. He says " You've served your purpose, Itsu, I am proud."
THE THREEQUEL: WEAPON X
Flashbacks and Romulus take us, again, into the movie.
Just like the previous movie, quick scenes of Logan's heroism are shown. He is the only survivor of his platoon in 1942. Later, he goes on a one-man mission to break free prisoners of a concentration camp.
A picture of Itsu is taken, crumbled up and tossed aside.
He is overwhelmed by NAZI forces and imprisoned as a lesson to those locked up. He will die alongside them.
When the commandant in charge, Major Bauman, strolls through, looking down on his prisoners, only 1 man stares back; Logan. He orders him shot and dumped in the furnace. The scene has to show that, even though he heals, he feels every burn. Which is, essentially, worse because he heals and burns over and over rather than dies. He does not make a sound. He does not speak in this scene whatsoever. When the furnace opens a still-on-fire-Logan rips through the soldier. We can see him healing, growing hair back, skin, the works.
He goes to free the innocent people and they beg him to run. They tell him there's too many to fight and that they themselves are to weak to run. He unhappily abides.
Logan separates from the organized military and becomes a freelance soldier until is optioned to become an espionage agent and told to relocate to Madripoor working for Landau, Luckman & Lake. This is Logan ala James Bond.
In 1950, Logan is on a mission near Tokyo. He gets ambushed by six classically trained assassins as he attempts to rendezvous with a scientist, Dr. Carling, and his daughter. Logan loses his gun during the fight but dispatches the remaining assassins with his weapons of choice, two short knives. With Dr. Carling kidnapped, Logan tracks down Kimora, the kidnapper, silently taking out two perimeter guards while Kimora tortures Dr. Carling. Kimora instantly realizes Logan is near, and the two battle while Kimora cryptically suggests that there is more to him (Kimora) than meets the eye. As the battle turns against Logan, Dr. Carling frees himself and beheads Kimora from behind. Logan retires from Landau, Luckman & Lake, after 5 faithful years.
When asked where he'd go. "Home," was his reply. "Maybe, instead of trying to run around my problems, I'll start over."
He now tries to live a normal life until Creed and Raven show up at a local pub. With high tech weapons and strength in numbers they take him down.
Mind-wiped by the scientists of team X, Logan now joins the group of spy assassins. The group consists of team leader Raven Darkholme aka Mystique, Christopher Nord aka Maverick, John Wraith aka Kestrel, Victor Creed aka Sabretooth and Logan aka Weapon X.
They clash, all of them. It's revealed that Victor and Raven have had there minds tampered with however, all 3 recall something of each other. They spent decades, into the 80's with each other.
Maverick and Kestrel die in battle against Omega Red. This sparks the expedience of the Weapon X program.
Wolverine destroys the lab and kills Corneleus. Driven insane he embarks into the wildness. Team X disbands.
About 15 years in the wilderness as made Logan forget nearly everything. This is similar to real Wild children.
By the way, there are very interesting cases out there about Wild Child(ren). Look them up on youtube.
Coming across a slew of dead animals, Logan realizes it was the work of poachers. Logan catches up to the poachers and attacks, but is chased off in a barrage of gunfire. Circling around, Logan prepares for another attack and mistakes Dr. James and Heather Hudson for the poachers.
Dr. Hudson is able to unload a .50-.50 slug into Logan’s chest at point blank range. But when Logan continues his assault, Heather picks up the rifle and fires another round into Logan’s back causing him, finally, to collapse. Dragging Logan to their nearby cabin, they are unsuccessful in raising Department H, whom they work for, with their radio. James decides to ski for help, leaving Heather to care for the unconscious and bound Logan. As a blizzard blows in, Heather comes to the realization that her husband will not return for days, and she will be spending the first night of her honeymoon with an unconscious savage. When Logan does wake up, he pops his claws and severs his bonds. Throughout the rest of the long night, Heather must tame Logan and help him regain his sanity.
James Hudson and Logan, who become close friends, almost brothers, train together at the Department H facility. James, invoking the name Guardian, uses his mechanized armor, and Logan, adopts the name Wolverine, a faint memory of his past, and is given his costume.
Dr. James Hudson begins to run tests on Logan and discovers that there is more to him than meets the eye.
Romulus narrates that he watched a man nearly die in the Canadian wilderness. His leg was caught and nearly ripped off from a bear trap. Romulus brought him the dead carcass of a local for him to feed on. This led to the Wendigo curse. The Wendigo fed on numerous hikers and the like.
Department H sent an eager Wolverine to take out Wendigo before he fed on any more victims. The day, unbeknownst to Wolverine, was his birthday. Romulus tells us that Sabretooth was sent to ensure Wolverine won, if necessary.
Wendigo and Wolverine locked horns and after an hour of bloodshed, Sabretooth landed the final blow to the mystical beast. He then turned to Wolverine.
Off the cliff and under water, the fight went on till the next morning. Wolverine, unsure why his attackers scent was familiar, knew it wouldn't be the last time the 3 would meet, though, only he walked away.
Dragging ass back to Department H, Wolverine is immediately tasked with another mission. Hudson's orders set him off and he grabs Hudson's throat and nearly stabs him. The Dr uses the suit to force a release and calls for backup.
In rush the Alpha Flight to apprehend and subdue the berserker. (the sole purpose they band together)
They team together and take him down after a good fight.
As he is being counseled, time freezes. and a voice (Professor X) tells him to leave at once and consider helping him locate his students if, in return, he helps Logan with his rage and lost memories. Logan grabs his favorite cowboy hat.
Romulus narrates, "1 day, Howlett, when your ready, I will confront you with the truth. I am what you will become."
THE END
THE CAST
The Howletts
Christian Kane as John
Leverage
A fan favorite on this cite for Wolverine. Until someone pointed out my pick for the character, he was mine as well. This is my nod to him and to those who would like him as Logan. He is thinner than I'd like Wolverine to be. Although, I'm sure he could bulk up, I'd rather him in this role.

Julliette Lewis as Elizebeth
The Way of the Gun
One of my favorite actors whom I'd like to see in more movies. She does not have the look of a comic book traditional character. She'd be fine to show the angst that Howlett endures.
Zachary Gordon as young James
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
I was going to use Kodi Smit-McPhee but he is TOO effeminate for me. Gordon is better for the role.
The Logans
Dougray Scott as Thomas
Mission Impossible 2
This is my nod to the man that came "this close" to becoming Wolverine in the first movie. He was ousted due to an injury in the aforementioned movie.
Julian De La Celle as young Dog
Ugly Betty
With the look of a bully and what could be perceived as a slight resemblance to the older Dog of my cast, Julian should be able to show the imbalanced personality of a future stalker, something (a stalker) Wolverine would never see the end of.
and...
Conner Dwelly as young Rose
Barricade
I was mainly looking for a red head who bears, at least somewhat of, a resemblance to the older version.
Isla Fisher as Rose
Wedding Crashers
An actress who is not only gorgeous but that could steal the scene without trying.
Tom Hardy as Wolverine (pic by Sup3r@)
Inception
I never knew he was 5'9", an acceptable height (the tallest in my opinion) For Wolverine. Who ever was the first to see this was 100% correct. He can become very bulky, as most fans have come to realize. He has the right gritty look and in the Byrne comics, even resembles him.
I considered Scott Caan as he is very short (5'5") and very stcky, but I think Hardy is the better actor.
Alan Ritchson as Dog
Smallville
I know he is not the best of actors, but Dog only has 1 scene. In that scene, Dog must be significantly taller than Wolverine and be very cut as well. His physique and brow are what led me to using him. I like Armie Hammer at 6'5" for this but he is my Colossus. Ritchson is 6'2", a descent height, but could use lifts.
The Reservation
Caterina Murino as Kayla Silver Fox
Casino Royale
The stunning beauty of the Italian actress can easily pass as a Native American. I have been very strict to use correct nationalities for those that may get offended, however, she looks dynamite for the role.
Kevin Durand as Sabretooth
Robin Hood
I tried so hard to find a different, not better, Creed, as Durand was involved in the actual Wolverine movie. There truly is no better choice.
WWI and Japan
Brian Steele as Cyber
Terminator Salvation
He's 6'7". Basically, he's there to thrash Wolverine. Acting through vocals is less important than through physicality. That, happens to be his fortay.
Liam Neeson as Romulus
Taken
I'm saving Clancy Brown and Ron Perlman for other characters. Brown, though, does not meet the height requirement anyway. Neeson, with that deep, menacing voice, and at 6'4" is going to be the key to selling the history of Wolverine.
Jordana Brewster returns as Mystique
Fast series
In each appearance of her in this series I've created she has shown a new side to her methodology. Mystique, like an onion (thanks Shrek) has many layers and Brewster can create the vibe Raven demands for a new series. Someone pointed out that she was not endowed enough for the role, but I feel that Darholme is an ultra-athletic type (slim and sexy) whose sex appeal lay not in her chest size, but her toughness.
Stan Lee as Old man
Every respectable Marvel movie (and then some)
Here's his well-deserved appearance in the series
Zhang Ziyi as Itsu
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Her delicate beauty and acting in both the aforementioned movie and Rush Hour 2 led me to her.
WWII and Spy games
Kevin McKidd as Major Bauman
Dog Soldiers
There is really no good reason why I chose him other than I like him. I guess I was looking for the resemblance to Creed or Dog, and I considered Paul Bettany, but this is the direction I went and I like it just fine.
James Hong as Chang
Big Trouble in Little China
I don't know much about the character and I really like the actor. He does resemble him and is a trusted actor to deliver any part. small or large.
Eric Roberts as Dr Carling
Best of the Best
I've used Roberts a few times. He is such an underrated actor and seems to really enjoy the small parts. BTW, my icon (or what ever it's called) is him in Best of the Best. That's how much I like him.
Mark Dacascos as Kimora
Cradle to the Grave
Such a great villain in that movie. When you can go toe-to-toe with Jet Li, you have my vote to duel with Wolverine.
Team X
Karl Urban as Maverick
The Bourne Supremacy
I'm wondering if I've seen this before. I was so sure that I was using him, it was wierd. Maybe he just IS Maverick to me, I don't know.
Jamie Foxx as Kestrel
Ray
Outstanding actor. I believe he is right there with the best of them. From In Living Color to Ray and everything else, he would bring credibility to the character.
Alexander Skarsgard as Omega Red
True Blood
He returns in this prequel. Keeping in mind he was in my Colossus movie.
Bryan Cranston as Dr. Abraham Cornelius
Breaking Bad
Cranston exudes creepiness. He is a very talented actor who is very popular on this cite. I've seen him for good guy roles, namely Commissioner Gordon (my choice in my Long Halloween cast) but I think he is very befitting of this role. I am combining his role with Professor Thorton
Jodie Foster as Dr. Carol Hines
Silence of the Lambs
Much like my pick for Elizabeth Howlett, I simply pick a 5 star actress that would only serve to improve the movie.
Masato Harada as Lord Darkwind/Professor Kenji Oyama (no hood)
The Last Samurai
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and immediately thought of him for the part.
Department H
Nathan Fillion as James Hudson
Serenity
I juggled a bit with this. Between him, Urban and Stults. I needed an actor to trust with such an integral role and thus Stults was out. Fillion looks more heroic, although less like Hudson and, as mentioned earlier, Urban was my 1st pick for Maverick anyway.
Alicia Witt as Heather
Urban Legend
Similar to my pick for Rose, I was going with actresses who, in my eyes, were perfect for Jean Grey. Both are too old for my age range of this series for her so they end up being perfect for their respective parts.
Andy Serkis as The Wendigo
King Kong
He's so absolutely perfect for this is crazy. The 12 ft beast would be pure CGI and mo-cap.
Alpha Flight
Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Northstar
Tudors
I think he is the spitting image of the Northstar I'd like to bring to the screen. He also has a remarkable resemblance to my Aurora pick.
Shannyn Sossamon as Aurora
A Knight's Tale
I think it's as perfect as JRM for Northstar
Lou Diamond Phillips as Shaman
Young Guns
I wanted an older, experienced Shaman, and Phillips has never EVER disappointed me in a role before.
Martin Klebba as Puck
Pirates series
I was going to use a large actor (having him appear small ala LOR) because he was originally 7 ft tall. Klebba, though, is very nimble for his condition and is very built. He opitimizes Puck. It's just a shame that he can't share a cigar with Wolverine in this story.
Andy Serkis as Narya
LOR
I can't imagine your disgust and confusion right now. When Alpha Flight saves Hudson, you see the twins, Shaman, Puck and... a white Sasquatch. In the midst of the fight, the beast Changes to another animal to try and defeat the "best there is." She would change a few times, never revealing her true form. Thus, there is no Sasquatch on the team and, in this movie, Serkis does the foot work of the "hero"
