My Fantastic Four Revamp...

So last I heard there probably won't be a Fantastic Four 3 but if Tim Story was at the helm I am glad that's not going to happen. Plus, I have been disappointed with the way they did the movies. The first movie had Doom and Thing primarily fight. And the second movie had Torch fight...as a makeshift Super Skrull no less with Doom. And also in the second movie, the Fantastic Four had trouble with a ferris wheel of all things. By that time they should have a little more teamwork and plus as I said before...it was a ferris wheel. Not a super villian...a ferris wheel. I would like to see a revamp and here is how I would like to see it go. It would start with a short intro with the Fantastic Four pretty much at the end of a battle with the Puppet Master (opening fight sequence) where he gained control of the Thing and then the Four prevail and take Puppet Master into custody. At that point we would be introduced to a skrull soldier monitoring them (in disguise of course) and it would ultimately lead to Richards realizing the Skrulls are on earth. Then the Skrull emperor would send K'lrt/Super Skrull to earth and use the interstellar beam which gave him his powers. It would lead to a fight with Super Skrull and would end after Richards used his smarts to jam the beam and then defeat K'lrt. Of course during this mayhem, there would be fights with Skrull warriors and a massive fight against Super Skrull.

To start my casting I would like to change the actor for Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. Don't get me wrong, I like Ioan But I think Billy Crudup would make a good Richards. He kind of has that super-intelligent scientist look to him and I think he would make a great team leader. Plus he's an all around great actor.

Next up on the list is Susan Richards/Invisible Woman. I know alot of Alba fans might not like this but I say replace her. I like to look at her just as much as the rest of the male race but she didn't sit right with me as Susan. I would actually like to see Malin Akerman play the role. With her recent role in Watchmen, I think she will be able to pull it off quite nicely. Plus she's a natural blonde.

Third is the Johhny Storm/Human Torch. I still think is should be Chris Evans. He nailed Johnny Storm and I think they should keep him around. By the way, I didn't like Push at all but Chris Evans/Human Torch nuff said...

Next up is the Benjamin Grimm/The Thing. Granted I liked Michael Chiklis as Ben Grimm but I think they should use someone a little taller but I don't have any idea who. It shouldn't be anyone too famous though. The reason I say that is because if you noticed, with famous actors, you have to use their real faces in the movie at some point in time. In the first movie it was understandable because they showed the origin but in the second movie, they had him change back to Grimm just for face time (I believe). Even Doom had face time without any deformities whatsoever. What's that all about. But if they did use Chiklis, I wouldn't be upset. He and Evans worked well together when it came to prank time.

Now for the Philip Masters/Puppet Master I decided on John Malkovich. Although he wouldn't be in the movie very long, I feel he could portray Masters very well. I mean he was a puppeteer in Being John Malkovich plus Masters' voice sounds like Malkovich to me.

Then there is K'lrt/Super Skrull. At first I thought how about Dwayne Johnson but then I came to the conclusion not to use him. I do like him as an actor but if you notice, he seems to like doing comedic roles more often. Plus I think Dominic Purcell could pull off a menacing K'lrt.

Last on my list is Victor Von Doom/Dr. Doom. I don't have him in my version of the movie because it's been done already. But if they decide to revamp and use Dr. Doom all over again, I think you could use anyone to fill the Doom suit but when it comes to the voiceover it should be Kevin Spacey. I cannot stress enough to not take off Doom's mask unless you show the deformities on his face. Even then, it is supposed to be so mangled, you won't want to see it. But Spacey's voice just screams Doom.

As I said this is my idea of how they should do it. It shouldn't be an origin story again and it should just pick up after the team has been together for awhile and already fought the Skrulls.

ok so i do think though that the thing needs a change and i have actually given this a little thought. now as long as u dont show his face i think one of the best people for it would have to be michael clark duncan. i mean he is big and has a very strong voice. as long as he was in the make up it wouldnt really matter what the race was of the actor playing him. but yeah good choices on everyone, i agree with keeping chris evans too.

I agree completely with you about the "face-time" issues. Like we will forget who the actor is portraying such iconic characters. It gets annoying at times in many superhero films and actually gives you a feeling the actors are incredibly shallow for it as it takes away from the character. Spider-man movies are terrible for it.

As for your casting choices, I always thought Chris Evans was a perfect Torch as well. Malkovich for Puppet Master is pretty tight as well, while the rest don't really give me a good or bad vibe, except Malin Ackerman for Sue. Forgive me, but her face just isn't beautiful enough. Sue Storm is one of those Marvel characters who is meant to be portrayed as a perfect beauty. I hate to reference Spider-man again, but that's my biggest problem with Dunst as MJ. Trust me, I'm not saying that Malin Ackerman and Kirsten Dunst aren't beautiful women, we all saw the "Halelujah" scene in Watchmen, it's just that they don't have those perfectly symmetrical faces and bodies. The beauty Malin possess' is more of a sexuality she exudes in combination with many attractive features. Did all that make sense? For Sue Storm, her beauty must be one that captivates a man just by looking at her face. The king of Atlantis is like a love-sick puppy for her, Reed Richards is a super nerd and has always been portrayed as lucky to have captured the heart of such an extraordinarily beautiful woman.

Kevin Spacey a Doom?? get real, if i was to choose Doom ive give it to javier bardem only because he can play a bad guy like no other.

and myth u bring up and intersting point about sue. I think the remake of FF should show the affair between namor and sue, that would be gold. as for some one to play sue id love to see denise richards, im not completely sold on her acting but she has blue eyes and looks like a comic character.

I say keep Evans as torch and Chiklis as Thing..they just need to do a better job on his appearance..maybe mix in a bit of CGI. Crudup is a good choice for Reed, And Malchovitch as puppet master..not sold on the others though.

Zinext Bardem would be a great Doom, good call

HUSoldier, I can see MCD as Thing and thanx for the support.

Myth, I totally agree with you on casting for MJ Dunst does not strike me as the perfect 10 model she is in the books. Plus look at those teeth. Regarding Malin, I am sticking to my guns with this one. I like her looks for this one. Unless you can give me someone better. Plus, I really need to see Watchmen. I would like to see the "Halelujah" scene.

Zinext, I like the idea of Namor being in the movie but I really want to see the Skrulls for some reason. It might be because of the recent invasion but I think they would make a great story. Although I think Namor came first in the FF timeline. Do you have an idea who could play him in the movie?

And I also have to stick to my guns on the Spacey as Doom zinext and rorshach. I don't want him in the costume. I actually just like his voice as Doom. Victor is an intellectual person that pretty much talks down to everyone and I can see Spacey bringing that voice to life. Plus it will be semi distorted through the mask like Iron Man's voice.

@fivebees: OMG! You haven't seen Watchmen yet! My girl thought that scene was so sexy, she kept her hooker boots on for me when we got home that night :).

I feel your want for Skrulls, but that is something that needs some setting up. Especially if you want a Superskrull in it. Also, you have to be careful which story's you try to adapt. Personally, I don't think our superheroes should be leaving our solar system, dimension, or our timeline. These things just would not be as cool as they are in the comics. It's another story if the FF is defending us from an invasion, that would be a great story, just don't have them leave our system. I wish these themes could translate well enough so as to appeal to the typical movie going audience, that way we could have Bishop or Cable in future X-movies, Annihilus in an FF movie, or even the Inhumans. Alas, for the narrow-mindedness of the masses would insure that such things are box-office poison.

IMO, FF is dead in the water and none should bother pokin' at it. But your cast is very good Fivebees :)

Myth, I wasn't going to have them leave the planet. The Skrulls would come here. That's why in the beginning of the movie I would have Richards stumble on the Skrulls spying on us. As for the FF movies Shaman, I know it's dead in the water but its still fun to do.

I was first thinking David Tennant as Mr. Fantastastic. But Billy Cruddup does look more the part. For Invisible Woman I had Ali Larter in mind. I say no to Kevin Spacey as Doctor Doom. I liked him in Seven. Maybe Nicolas Cage as Doctor Doom, maybe not maybe Gerard Butler he was ok as the Phantom Of the Opera. :) I liked Brian Chiklis as the thing I wish they would have made him appear taller which they could have done. I hope when the new ff movie comes out as a reboot i hope they do more of an adventure flick like Indiana Jones instead of them just staying in the city and fighting and Doctor Doom needs Doom Bots. Maybe bring in the Inhumans and Namor

The Inhumans would be a good story too DoctororTodd. Plus I could see Ali Larter as Invisible Woman.

Yea fivebees it would be interesting to see the Inhumans on screen. I'd liked to see how they would make Lockjaw in the movie. I also think the costumes need a little bit of a change. I really don't like them that much. They are a little too dark. I also didn't like the fact that thing wore boots it made it kind of stupid don't you think?
greenlanternsector2814
greenlanternsector2814 - 3/17/2009, 11:30 AM
I thought the costumes we're pretty good but I have always liked the black and white costumes. Plus I know the Thing has worn boots in the Marvel U before and I don't mind it. But if they did the bare feet I wouldn't mind either.
TheDoctororTodd
TheDoctororTodd - 3/17/2009, 3:27 PM
yea. I think they should do the storyline where Reed replaces Doctor Doom in Latveria that would be a cool story to see.

I don't think there would be a lot of excitement for that story DoctororTodd.
