My feelings towards another Punisher reboot are pretty much the same as my feelings towards the Spider-Man reboot. I've loved the last two versions of Punisher. I was very disappointed that the Tom Jane one didn't get a sequel, but I was very happy with how Ray Stevenson and WAR ZONE turned out, but sadly it failed at the box office. So if there ever is another Punisher movie it will probably be another reboot so I'll just throw out who I think could take on the roles.
Clive Owen as Frank Castle/Punisher
A great actor who does really look the part. He is also a great actor, and has done some great action films. I think he could also act the inner pain of the character. All in all he sure knows how to shoot 'em up. Now I would love to see a sequel to the Tom Jane or Ray Stevenson films, but this is in case they do recast the role again. This may be strange or sound bad to some but after doing my Spider-Man reboot cast I thought about how it could be interesting to start off Punisher in that series like how he started out in the Spider-Man comics, and then give him a spin-off film. I think that would help get other people to see the film since the Spider-Man movies are more popular, and if he appeared in them it would get more attention to the character and a new movie. I'm not saying it would be a definite but I think it could be an idea to consider.
Chris Gauthier as Linus Lieberman/Microchip
I really liked Wayne Knight in the role in WAR ZONE, and let's be honest he looks a lot like the character. Recasting this role was hard but I've decided to settle on Chris Gauthier. He's got the right kind of look, and I think he could handle the role. He shouldn't start out helping Punisher but definitely in a sequel.
David Wenham as Detective Martin Soap
I like David Wenham as an actor, and is good enough for the role. Plus he looks kind of like him.
Thandie Newton as Molly von Ricthofen
A pretty good actress and she looks kind of like the character.
Bruce Willis as Bruno Costa
Bruce Willis is a good actor and could pull off the role. He's obviously great at acting tough guys and looks the role. I'd probably have him as a lead villain in the first one, as the main mobster behind the death of Castle's family, and would of course face judgment at the climax of the film.
Viggo Mortensen as Billy Russo/Jigsaw
I really like Viggo as an actor and he could pull the role off. For this series I think that Russo should be an antagonist in the first film but not as Jigsaw. In the comics Russo was a mob assassin, and in this new series would be hired by Bruno Costa to kill Frank Castle. He'd get to Castle and kill his family but Frank would survive and then go out for revenge. He'd face off with the Punisher towards the end of the movie and during it his face would be shredded. He'd go insane and become the main villain in the second movie, seeking to takeover Bruno Costa's damaged organization and get revenge against the Punisher.
Michael Clarke Duncan as Barracuda
Before you say anything, yes I know he played Kingpin in the 2004 Daredevil, but that series is getting reboot anyway. And I mean look at him, he is perfect for the role. He'd pull it off with flying colors. Perhaps Barracuda could be the lead villain of a third film.
Igor Jijikine as The Russian
Do I honestly need to say that much? He's big, he's menacing, and he's Russian. It's like he was made for the role.
Jason Statham as Burt Kanyon/Hitman
Hitman would be an interesting character to explore since he served with Frank Castle in the army. It would be interesting to maybe see in flashbacks the two of them serving together, and possibly having them have been friends. That would add a lot of drama to it. Jason Statham just seems to work for this role.
Susan Sarandon as Ma Gnucci
A great veteran actress who could definitely pull off the role.
