Robert Burden's Battle Cat

Robert Burden's Battle Cat

Dear ComicBookMovie.com,
My name is Robert Burden. I'm an artist living in San Francisco. For the past few years I've been making very large oil paintings of my childhood action figures. I wanted to send you a link to a time-lapse video of the creation of my newest piece "Battle Cat Statant" from He-Man.

By CBMcontributor - Sep 30, 2009 11:09 AM EST
Filed Under: Fan Fic

The painting is roughly 6ftx8ft and took about 420 hours to complete. If you think it's worthy of being anywhere on your website, that would be amazing, but if not, no worries. I hope you like the vid regardless.
Best,
Rob

that is truly amazing dude, you have some talent! i've stil got my original battle cat with armor, it's totally badass, much like your painting dude. You need to get some scaled art prints of that painting dude, cos i'd buy one, and i'm sure i'm not the only one.

That was great. Thanks for posting and for showing that process. Really impressive. I love the design. That went up on my facebook stat. :)

I've got my childhood Battle Cat sitting on my art desk staring me down. Like Ror's it's sans armour, but still a treasure nonetheless.

@thwhtknight - He's just laying down the underpainting. It's just part of the oil process. Good oils are tough as $#!% and require a lot of color layering to get the great effects the medium can bring when done right.

Kudos to the great work and the fresh subject matter, Robert! Bringing art to saturday mornings one toy at a time. :)

that is amazing! I'd put that over the couch or bed any day!

I checked out his site. He has some really off the wall stuff. The foot solider with daisies behind him is AWESOME.
