Will a DC/Marvel crossover ever be seen on screen?

Can a movie be made with DC and Marvel Characters? Lobo vs Wolverine, Cpt. America vs Batman, or any other of your favorite match ups.

It is a favorite pastime of comic book fans to construct fantasy battles between their favorite characters. Tallying up the pros/cons of talents and powers to see who will come out on top. This can lead to an endless argument of who will win, especially involving personally attached characters. Who wants to see their favorite hero or villain lose? The comic book companies have already made comics depicting some of these famous battles to help settle the dispute, if that is possible.

What would it take for this to actually manifest?

Who would you want to see in the crossover?

Could it involve the already existing cast of character put on film?

Yeah, never gonna happen. Too many Hollywood politics, business, and legality that just won't allow it.

Animated maybe, I mean look at who framed roger rabbit; if we could get bugs and mickey together who knows. But then again when they tried to o it a second time with Bonkers agreements couldn't be made so then again maybe roger rabbit was a one of a kind.

If it does, the plot will probably look something like the Mortal Kombat vs. DC game (which IMO was an intruiging concept but didn't have the execution and shouldn't have paired the DC with MK universes). Besides, if I was running DC or Marvel, I wouldn't waste money improving the brand of my competitor. I'd rather spend my energies on emerging franchises such as Runaways, Young Avengers, Kick Ass, etc.
