FANTASTIC FOUR's Main Villain Reportedly Revealed As Adam Driver Remains In The Running For Reed Richards

We may finally have some solid intel on who Marvel's First Family will square off with in Fantastic Four, while Star Wars actor Adam Driver reportedly remains a frontrunner to play the MCU's Reed Richards!

There's a huge amount of excitement for Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot, and while a change in directors and a release date delay have pushed the movie even further into the Multiverse Saga, we remain eager for updates.

In recent months, there have been almost countless rumours about who will play each member of Marvel's First Family, though Star Wars actor Adam Driver has recently emerged as an apparent frontrunner for Mister Fantastic.

John Krasinski, who played a Reed Richards Variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, remains a firm fan favourite but appears to be out of the running.

Now, trusted insider @MyTimeToShineH has confirmed that Driver is still a likely candidate to play the MCU's Reed, and if correct, this is a casting decision it would be hard to find fault with. He's only a few years younger than Krasinski, though, so The Office star clearly isn't too old for the role.

The scooper also happened to mention in passing that Galactus will be Fantastic Four's main villain. We've heard rumblings that the Silver Surfer will be introduced before the movie arrives in theaters to set the stage for that, though it's definitely surprising he isn't being saved as a threat to the entire MCU for the next saga.

Then again, the world-eating baddie has always primarily been a foe to this team, and it's no secret Kevin Feige has been angling to bring Galactus into this shared world for a long time.

It's also said that we're likely to get casting news before D23, while Penn Bagley, Amanda Seyfried, and Rudy Pankow are no longer thought to be in consideration (and neither is Ryan Gosling; instead, we're pretty sure he'll be Thunderbolts' Sentry).

As always, it's best to take this information with a pinch of salt for now, but fingers crossed we get some official news sooner rather than later.

Fantastic Four is set to be released on February 14, 2025.

Why wouldnt their first villain be Mole Man? MCU is too into rushing everything now.

@Matchesz - Steve Carell for Mole Man. Or Rainn Wilson would work too.

Galactus might be a bit much for the first villain but if they handle the F4 as this kind of extra terrestrial/inter dimensional response team then it could work. I just really hope that the movie can open with them all fighting a giant moloid from beneath New York.

Is it just me? Or is Alex Ross' art for Reed giving off Christopher Reeves vibes.

No chance the first villain they face is Galactus, that would be a really stupid decision.

The first villain will be a mirror to the heroes very likely the Super Skrull with the powers of each of the individual team members combined and the ability to fake their appearance. This would fit with Secret Invasion and Captain Marvel 2 to emphasize the Skrull conflict. You could also play with the concept of the Skrull disguising itself as them to ruin the public image or team dynamic by impersonating them.

I would not be too surprised if it takes some inspiration from Incredibles and ends with a teaser for Mole Man with the team united as a family against him.

@Scarilian - Was thinking something similar, it'd definitely make sense to tie into the Skrulls and their increasing role in the MCU, and the trope of at least the first film in a new series having the hero(es) face a villainous counterpart with similar or identical powers.

@Scarilian - Damn that does make a lot of sense to use Super Skrull. Nice thoughts! I also think using Galactus first would be a huge mistake.

If true, why start off with Galactus? He's literally an Avengers level threat. That's like Homecoming starting off with the Sinister Six.
