MCU Rumor Round-Up: NOVA Update; Surprising THE FANTASTIC FOUR Setting; VISION Details, & More

It's been a fairly quiet weekend for news, but we do have some intriguing new Marvel Cinematic Universe-related rumors here, including updates on The Fantastic Four, Nova, and the Vision series...

It's been a pretty quiet Saturday night here on CBM, but we do have some Marvel Cinematic Universe-related rumors to share, including (possible) updates on the planned Nova series(?), The Fantastic Four, the recently announced Vision series (which is no longer believed to be titled Vision Quest), and more.

We'll start with the Disney+ WandaVision spin-off show that was originally known as Vision Quest. Last month, we got word that a new version of this project was in development with Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas on board as showrunner. Now, Daniel Richtman is reporting that production is currently scheduled to get underway this fall (between September and November), and that casting is underway for "a young co-lead aged 18 to 20" to star alongside the returning Paul Bettany.

We're not sure who this character could be, but the previous incarnation of this show was expected to feature the MCU debuts of Vision's children, Vin and Viv. We have no idea which - if any - ideas from Jac Schaefer's version of the series will carry over, however.

Moving on to the Nova project that's been brewing at Marvel Studios for a while. Last we heard, the space-faring hero will be making his MCU debut in a Disney+ series and not a movie. According to Richtman, the show will "feature a group of young protagonists. He's also heard that a showrunner has been hired, and an offer has gone out to an actor for the lead role, though he doesn't mention any names.

Will it be Richard Rider or Same Alexander under the helmet? We've previously heard that the series will focus on a "young lead," which means there's a decent chance it will be the latter.

Finally, Richtman believes The Fantastic Four will "take place primarily in outer space," essentially making it the next cosmic MCU film. With the likes of Galactus and the Silver Surfer involved, we knew at least part of the movie would be set in space, but it is somewhat surprising to hear that most of the story will play out off-planet.

There have also been some pretty crazy rumors relating to Franklin Richards' role in the movie, and if they do prove to be accurate, it would make sense for the film to mostly cosmic in nature.

What do you make of these latest MCU rumors? Be sure to drop us a comment down below.

@bobevanz @LukeCage2155 - You guys as well! I was hoping to take it easy tomorrow but I have to go do repairs at my in-laws house (i.e. replacing a garbage disposal, replacing a lightbulb in their garage (yes, they can't do that on their own), fixing a wobbly doorknob, etc.), but after that it's all beer and pool time. Cheers!

@Feralwookiee - Both images we've had so far seem to be NY-based.

@ObserverIO - what if they’re doing the trial of Galactus and the NY scenes are flashbacks

@ShimmyShimmyYA - A movie told in flashbacks while Reed is on trial could be a really good way of doing a life story biopic version of FF. Like Oppenheimer did.

And the classic John Byrne story would be a pretty neat way of doing that too.

@ObserverIO - and because they’re clearly gonna be in another universe maybe he’s on trial for accidentally dooming them to die or something , and at the end it does kinda bleak but idk

Meh. Sam was Ok in Champions, but Rider is a lot more interesting IMO. Hope it's not true.

Rich Rider is the best Nova,Sam just isn't appealing enough as Nova.
Spider-Man 2099 would be cool as f*ck to see in live action but I can't see it ever happening.
Fantastic Four I want to be excited for this but casting a female Silver Surfer before Norrin Radd is criminal.

Gotta admit, I've been reading marvel comics since 1974, but my nova knowledge is pathetically low. FF in space could be cool 🤔

@Izaizaiza - I loved Nova in the 70s,then he was just alright in the 90s New Warriors comic book series which was really good overall.
Then I thought he was great during Annihilation.

Max can make a better show about the Daily Planet than Disney+ can with their Marvel and Star Wars properties. Excluding Andor, Mandalorian, and Wandavision because, duh. But why in blue hell is nova being made into a tv show. They think they can compete with Max and its Green Lantern? I don't think GL is gonna be all that great imho but are we gonna doubt that it''ll be better than what Disney has to offer? Bunch of [frick]tards over there

Wesley Snipes clowning on Feige and Disney because they can't get it together to write and make an entertaining movie about a half-vampire hunter who kills vampires for two hours on screen (probably because, based on everything they've done since Endgame where they've had total control, they are stubbornly trying to make it as Woke as possible with bait-and-switch nonsense with Blade's daughter and whatnot) was not what I expected to see today, but it's hilarious nonetheless.

Order66 - 6/16/2024, 1:51 AM
Let’s be real Rider is the most popular Nova in the comics. They better not drop the ball on this. Make the right decision and focus on him. Ryan Gosling as Nova.

bkmeijer1 - 6/16/2024, 2:48 AM
I doubt Vision or Nova is gonna happen anytime soon. My guess is both are slated for 2027, so I don't think they're gonna start casting or production anytime soon.

Hope Rider is the lead though. I don't mind if it's a mentor-mentee show with Richard and Sam, but Rider is more interesting to follow. Especially in rebuilding the Nova Corps.

DocSpock - 6/16/2024, 5:26 AM

I have a strong feeling they will either never make Nova, or if they do, they will royally screw it up.
SuperiorHeckler
SuperiorHeckler - 6/16/2024, 8:22 AM
@DocSpock - Eeeeeeeeeeexactly! 🤨 The WIN/WIN would be to introduce both Rich and Sam with Sam holding the fort on earth with the Young Avengers and Rich as the veteran out in deep space dealing with the cosmic-stuff. But, one lesson we have all learned since ENDGAME is that if Disney and Feige CAN screw something up, they WILL screw something up. I can easily see this project as being exclusively Sam's NOVA with Richard's NOVA being a name-drop or a quickie flash-back just to advance the storyline back to Sam.
DocSpock
DocSpock - 6/16/2024, 12:07 PM
@SuperiorHeckler -

I like your ideas for how to do it. It easily makes sense & services both characters. But I have zero faith Mickey the Rat will do something like that.
