I like many others on the site erupted in utter joy and fanboy glee when the final news broke of the acquisition of Fox. While there was quite more at stake than just two Marvel properties, its hard not to feel pure excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead for these massively underutilized characters. I may take the leap and do a fan cast for X-Men, but for now I present you with the ideas I have had for Fantastic Four.
THE CAST!!!
John Krasinski as Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic
I know everyone has been shouting his name from the high heavens at the beginning, but it is hard to argue why not. He is a great actor as well as director, not to mention that he was already up for the role of Captain America before Chris Evans ultimately agreed to the role. I think he would bring the perfect balance to the existing great minds of the MCU, and play off of others performances very well in potential future scenes with Robert Downey Jr., or Mark Ruffalo.
Emily Blunt as Sue Richards / Invisible Woman
The second choice echoed from the cathedrals of nerdom along with John. I feel like they are a package deal to be honest. Given the fact that they are married in real life, and have great chemistry on screen as shown in A Quiet Place, the choice really speaks for itself. And irony strikes once more as it is well known she was originally up for the role of Black Widow before having to drop out. You could say both her and John have been fated to join the MCU at some point, what better time than now?!
Zack Efron as Johnny Storm / The Human Torch
I can feel the eye rolls and face palms already, but let me explain before I'm burned at the stake. Now this isn't High School Musical Zack we are talking about okay, this is Charlie St. Cloud Zack we are talking about. The guy has grown tremendously as an actor over the years in my opinion. He has shown he can bring that perfect mix of cocky carefree attitude that we know from Johnny, while giving us a character that is believable as a younger brother / uncle full of heart for his family. And can you imagine scenes between him and Tom Holland's Spidey? I think a tear just escaped my eyes...
John Cena as Ben Grimm / The Thing
The image may not be working for some if all you see is a floating hat and shirt in the image above but he is there, I swear. If you have not seen John cena in Blockers, do youself a favor and do so now. I feel like his acting has been improving over time, and he may be joining the likes of the Rock some day as a block buster power house. He also has shown to have really good comedic timing as well, so his character bumping heads with Zack Efron can make for some memorable scenes.
Owen Vaccaro as Franklin Richards
His new film The House With a Clock in its Walls seems to be a turning point in his young career. It would be great to see him come of age over a number of films within the MCU and eventually meeting the Power Pack along the way.
Mckenna Grace as Valeria Richards
She was great in Gifted alongside Chris Evans and I have no doubts she would do great things with the character here.
James Earl Jones as the voice of Annihilus
James has a voice that can put you to sleep or make a grown man soil their pants, and he could give Annihilus a thunderous voice to match his terrifying appearance.
Brad Bird as DIRECTOR
Brad Bird is a fantastic director! (had to get the pun out of my system)
He litterally laid the template for how a Fantastic Four film should be made with the Incredibles. And he has shown to be excelent for live action as well with MI: Ghost Protocol. With the right story I know he can give us a movie that would be just as memorable as the best in the MCU.
And last but not least...
Laurence Fishburne as the voice of Galactus (end credit appearance)
Having Lawrence Fishburne voice Galactus would be like his tenure with Marvel coming full circle. And this would be a great way to tease a threat as great as Thanos for our heroes within the next phases of the MCU.
Having an image come on screen like the one above featuring both Galactus and Silver Surfer would give us the same feeling we had seeing Thanos with that evil smirk at the end of Avengers.
I hope you enjoyed my choices for casting this film, and I would like to trade thoughts on a possible storyline involving all these characters in the comments below!
