Will Arnold Schwarzenegger's Return To CONAN Be The First In A Trilogy?

After a not particularly successful reboot starring Jason Momoa, The Legend Of Conan will bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role which helped make him a household name. However, it sounds as if the movie is being planned as the first in a trilogy! We also have some new details on the plot!

Paradox Entertainment picked up the rights to the Conan The Barbarian franchise not too long ago, and CEO Fredrik Malmberg has now offered an update on the status of The Legend of Conan, hinting that the sequel has the potential to be the beginning of a whole new franchise. "We have a great story. This is a role that’s perfect for [Arnold] and he’s very involved with the whole Universal team. Arnold has been very instrumental to bringing this together saying, 'We gotta make a good Conan!' I think if we do this right, we can do two more Conan movies right after. I think Game Of Thrones also shows a huge interest in fantasy. I’m psyched about it." The Legend of Conan is being penned by Fast & Furious 7 screenwriter Chris Morgan. Earlier this year, he described the movie as picking up with the titular character all these years later and said that we will see the older hero - Schwarzenegger recently turned 65 - not necessarily fighting in battles, but leading an army. This was a sentiment echoed by Malmberg as he let slip a few new details about where we pick up with Conan: "The idea is that this takes place after Conan has been king. But this is the legend of Conan where he has been gone and people say, ‘Do you remember the good ol’ days when Conan was around?’ And now it’s time for him to come back."

Conan the Barbarian is a CLASSIC! Not to be confused with the SyFy channel movie of the same name with the always cheesy Jason Mamoa. Don't know how Arny's body is holding up, but I'm glad he's back.

Was all for this until I saw Last Stand. Arnold is great and I'm a fan but he needs to stop doing acting.

He was a young Lion who took over from the old ones. Now its time for him to step aside.

Sorry but thats just the way it is. :(

i don't think it could be worse than Momoa's.

His role may not be a central action role. I mean, there's nothing physical he can accomplish that even remotely resembles anything he did in the first film.

They will probably put him with younger characters.

@Canon38 No it couldnt be worse than Momoa's little Bonan The Shitbarian.

If Arnold would get some facial work (not a face lift!!!) to his lower face and neck and trim up then it might be watchable. But unless hes playing a younger Conan, all this will be is Conan as King with a young cast surrounding him.

Dont want him to ruin himself like Stallone did and look like a freak but a little work to his jaw and neck would be great.

One thing you can't fault Momoa for was his dedication in preparing for the role - Not many actors out there that would have their best mate purposely break their nose for a role.

Jason Mamoa is a corn ball. He would have ruined Guardians of the Galaxy if his man-crushing fanboys had their way.

The Conan reboot wasn't bad, there was blood, sex and battles which was all I needed, people give it way too much bad-credit.

Arnie, your career is gone, continue to live off of cameos and leave Conan, he's too old and I don't believe he could get into good enough shape for the first movie, let alone a trilogy.

I watched the first part of Jason Moma's No,man the Tardarian and wanted to throw my computer out the window. Ron Perlman looked so bored I thought any minute he'd say "[frick] this, I'm out".

Geez, I hope not. I don't want to even see him back for King Conan, which would probably be more about Conan's son "Conn" than the Cimmerian himself.
Face it, to you Arnold lovers, he's too old now and if were to go shirtless, his body would have to be 100% CGI.
Personally, I liked the new Conan, Jason Mamoa.
His Conan is a lot closer to Robert E. Howard's intelligent military strategist and pirate than Arnold's bumbling, oafish, fish-out-of-water, naive country-bumpkin version. But then again, the Arnold lover's haven't read the REH books.

@grampageezer Sometimes what works an a book doesnt work on screen.
John Milius created a great Conan. Far superior to Momoa's Colon. Just too bad Milius couldnt come back for this.

Arnold has made some of the greatest action films of all time.
That alone allows him to continue making movies.

Sorry some of you crybabies forget he was one of the biggest stars in movie history.
If you don't like him or his films..
..Go watch Taylor Lautner or Channing Tatum makes shitty action movies that won't ever come near to the greatness of The Austrian Oak!

Jason Mamamo will NEVER command the budget needed to make an awesome Conan movie. He's only good for SyFy channel or straight-to-DVD style productions.

I'm just keepin it 100

I actually don't blame Jason Mamoa for the weak Conan film he was in.
He did a pretty decent job, looked the part too.
The writing & directing was garbage.

There can be no name actors in a film but as long as they have a good script & a talented director..movies can excel.
Put even a great actor in a role poorly scripted & directed & it's a crap film.
