Will Arnold Schwarzenegger's Return To CONAN Be The First In A Trilogy?
After a not particularly successful reboot starring Jason Momoa, The Legend Of Conan will bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role which helped make him a household name. However, it sounds as if the movie is being planned as the first in a trilogy! We also have some new details on the plot!
Paradox Entertainment picked up the rights to the Conan The Barbarian franchise not too long ago, and CEO Fredrik Malmberg has now offered an update on the status of The Legend of Conan, hinting that the sequel has the potential to be the beginning of a whole new franchise. "We have a great story. This is a role that’s perfect for [Arnold] and he’s very involved with the whole Universal team. Arnold has been very instrumental to bringing this together saying, 'We gotta make a good Conan!' I think if we do this right, we can do two more Conan movies right after. I think Game Of Thrones also shows a huge interest in fantasy. I’m psyched about it." The Legend of Conan is being penned by Fast & Furious 7 screenwriter Chris Morgan. Earlier this year, he described the movie as picking up with the titular character all these years later and said that we will see the older hero - Schwarzenegger recently turned 65 - not necessarily fighting in battles, but leading an army. This was a sentiment echoed by Malmberg as he let slip a few new details about where we pick up with Conan: "The idea is that this takes place after Conan has been king. But this is the legend of Conan where he has been gone and people say, ‘Do you remember the good ol’ days when Conan was around?’ And now it’s time for him to come back."
