THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Trailer Teases Galadriel's Mission And Sauron's Origin

The latest trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power reveals more about Galadriel's mission in the Prime Video series, while we also get to see more of Sauron's mysterious origin story...

We're starting to get a clearer idea of what to expect from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and a new trailer (via SFFGazette.com) follows Morfydd Clark's Galadriel as she embarks on a mission to save Middle-earth. It makes sense to put an established character at the forefront of the prequel series, and we probably shouldn't be surprised that the show will also explore Sauron's origin.

Played by Anson Boon, the iconic villain is once again shown in this sneak peek looking a far cry from the armoured behemoth we saw in The Lord of the Rings movies. Despite that, he's still suitably creepy!

While House of the Dragon is exploring the history of a specific family we became acquainted with in Game of Thrones, Prime Video seems to have much grander ambitions for this series. As the title suggests, we'll also learn more about The Rings of Power, and we can't help but wonder whether the plan could be to end the show where The Fellowship of the Ring began.

Those flashbacks to Sauron's defeat look set to take on a whole new meaning, anyway, and with this likely to be the last trailer before the show premieres, we can't wait to check this one out.

The show, adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's iconic series of novels, takes place during the Second Age, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Set in a time of relative peace, this story follows an ensemble made up of established and new characters as they "confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth."

From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay are serving as showrunners, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is set to premiere with two episodes on September 2.

3 trailers in and I have no clue what this show is about and thanks to their promotional marketing team I don’t care. 🤷‍♂️

I got no idea what this show is about, so I can't get excited about the story. That's how mediocre the trailers have been.

Yes, that mission galadriel never had because she isn't and never was a warrior.

@Origame - it’s all fan fiction just like the movies. All of them changed stuff and added stuff but I can guess why this series only bothers you for a couple of reasons…

@TheSuperMex - not according to the showrunners, who said they wanted this show to be as faithful to the source material as possible

Sauron's Origin, eh?

The origin in nutshell:
Real name is Mairon one the Maiar (lesser Ainur), he served Aulë, the smith of the Valar until he joined Melkor (Morgoth), he became Morgoth's lieutenant, then Morgoth banished to the Void, Sauron continues the Boss work.

I'm not at all hyped for this, tbh, but even my mild interest still easily beats my complete and utter apathy towards House of the Dragon, so it has that going for it.

As a fan of both the books and movies, I'll give it a shot. The game Shadow of War also changed a lot of things, even more so, and it was still good. So will wait to judge it, they seem to be putting some actual effort in this despite the changes.

Just can’t figure why this IP and it’s marketing is doing nothing for me. Meanwhile HOUSE OF DRAGON is simply killing it.

Maybe just a misguided marketing campaign…let’s 🤞.

For the last time, ANSON BOON IS NOT PLAYING SAURON.

Covering this trash and not calling it trash is a crime against Tolkien.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - You'd think a species wouldn't consider their feet big, they'd consider them normal sized. Garbage writing.
