I really enjoy the CW's arrow. I it is one of my favorite shows. but if i could change a few things about it this is whatid do.

5.) Super powers

First thing first. after about two or three seasons the whole street wise superhero thing is going to get old. how many more villains can you turn into robbers and drug dealers (im looking at you Count Vertigo.) i like the streetwise appeal but i would like to see a small screen super hero universe. I dont know why studios think that they cant have certain chracters on screen and in movies at the same time. in this day and age people are wise enough to know the differences between sperate universes. i think introducing green lantern, batman, and other chracters would be a great idea. Heck they could use arrow like they are going to use shield and have it as a jump off point for lower DC chracter shows or films.

4.)Fun Loving Ollie

My first exposure to green arrow was from the DCAU. And he was a much lighter character than he is in the Show. Hes one of my favorite Human heroes and in the comics is like a much lighter happier version of batman. I understand he just got finished doing his Tom Hanks castaway thing on the island but eventually i hope they can turn him into the chraming fun loving oliver instead of a bruce wayne brooding clone. Im tired of seeing ollie all angry all the time.

3.) Stop trying to be Batman

The nolan trilogy was awesome. no one can deny. But im so tired of every body making their shows "nolanized" The numerous hints from the nolan trilogy has turned into easter eggs for me. Diggle is his alfred. Laurel is his rachel. Every villian has a joker style broadcast. You know in an episode Diggle even asked him are you hooding up, and ollie even asked "In the middle of the day" now where have i head that before. cant even lie it was a great way to draw in fans but i hope they drift away from the nolanized arenea into there own feel.

2.)Create a green arrow family

Dig is freakin awesome. Now when i read Green arrow comics i wish he was there. It was a great idea to create him. Someone on this site said he should become arsenal and i think that would rock. Heck we already have roy harper so he could become Red arrow, have his sister become speedy, and have felicity become spoiler. (heck i like felicity but i dont know who else she could be)I think it woudls be awesome to have them wear different costumes as they spread out through the city. the public only knows them as the hood, but they know each other by their superhero names in the field. It doesnt look like Laurel is ever gona be a vigilante but it would be awesome if they could figure out how to make her the black canary.
so in the field
ollie= green arrow
Roy harper= Red arrow
Dig= Arsenal
Thea= speedy
Felicity= Spoiler

1.)Arrow movie

Arrows Deathstoke is so on point. I really wished theyd used him in smallville instead of using allison's grandad from teen wolf. When he becomes evil i hope they do it in the form of a tv movie. Id love to seem him showdown with oliver and their story becomes full circle in a two hour epic. i think thier conclusion should totally change the tone of the series and should happen around the time they decide to do the arc where ollie loses his fourtune. Arrow has the best hand to hand ive ever seen in a tv show and id like to see an all out brawl between teacher and student. ending with him barely beating Slade, after getting owened twice before

Well thats it. I've got many more ideas but that's all i got time for today. Leave your coments in the section below.

I think that they can pull off the realistic feel without resulting in the need for superpowers. It would be weird if the changed their verisimilitude (the reality that they established) halfway through the show wouldn't it? They established the ground rules and they must at least try to commit right?

Anyway, I don't necessarily think that superpowers are the issue but rather the drab way that they use the villains. Though it is a different show, I'll bring Dexter in for a minute because there are some things that can be learned from this show. Each season of Dexter revolves around one or a few major psycopaths that Dexter tries to bring down. These characters are allowed to be fleshed out and have sub plots and definite layers to them. There is also an overwhelming sense of dangers to these antagonists as they are shown to be a nuisance to take down.

In Arrow, all the villains ever get is a very brief introduction (mostly because they are always hit men and useless goonies). For the most part, they only last one episode as Ollie subdues them and neatly and ever so easily ties up whatever conflicts were created earlier on. As a result of this, we are faced with "new villain of the week" which will inevitably get stale soon. It's a shame because many of these antagonists had story arc potential. We could have seen characters like Deadshot and Vertigo, not only as crime-oriented troublemakers, but rather as villains with definite (and compelling) motivations and interesting methods of achieving these goals. How cool would it be to have had Deadshot as an elusive serial killer who Green Arrow has to constantly change his tactics to bring down. This not only gives the audience an emotional investment in a villain and a lasting story to feast on for a long time, but it also makes Oliver's inevitable win all the more sweeter.

That's the end of my rant.

Oh and it's arguable that Arrow can be like Batman because that was the spirit of Green Arrow comics in its conception. Remember the Arrow cave and his arrow themed automobile? Those were admitted (stolen) elements from Batman.

Seeing, though, that Green Arrow has found its own identity over the years, I guess you're right. Green Arrow is its own entity now - maybe the show should start acting as such? I don't know.

Anyway I do agree with some of these. Would be cool to see them as they might actually improve the show.

Just slow down people and stop trying to make them rush things to make it your Oliver so soon. Its only one season. Let the character build up so he can be the character that ya'll know and use to. IT will be so much better to see him grow in 3 seasons and change to the man he needs to be instead of just being to happy and friendly from day one. Character development is what this show is giving us with Oliver and I am enjoying the 3 different versions of him. He been gone for 5 years and its going to take more than a couple of months for him to change. That way it just feels more real and not rushed like how people trying to make it be just to complain.

"Stop trying to be Batman... Create a green arrow family"

Don't those two contradict each other?

I really appreciate this article. I totally agree with everything you are saying. I really REALLY hope Laurel turns out to be Black Canary, I think she's perfect for the part and at this point, I don't care if they give her the canary cry through some freak accident or something, as long as it shows up!!!!
