In a recent interview with Yahoo, the voice of Groot, Vin Diesel pretty much confirmed that Marvel has plans to crossover the Avengers and the guardians of the galaxy. “Marvel will have a lot of options after this movie and one of those options will be integrating teams,” He then goes on to say that in Marvel plans could change at any time and there are many possibilities Marvel could go with. "We talked about all sorts of possibilities [for a crossover] and I kind of know what the basic plan is. It could always change at any minute. That could or could not include a couple of Avengers and a couple of Guardians meeting up, or all of the Avengers and all of the Guardians." With that said, he adds that every hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe  is likely to meet up with each other,  "But, we do inhabit the same universe and they’re pretty big personalities that are likely to, at some point or another, run into each other.” Zoe Saldana then chimes in and say that she thinks the Avengers will need the Guardians help, “It was be awesome for the Avengers to seek help… professional help from the Guardians,[The Guardians] have all been cybernetically altered, so they’re kind of super-bionic." Dave Bautista says he thinks, “Drax and Hulk would clash,” and Director, James Gunn thinks the Avengers and the Guardians Of the Galaxy will not get along as well, “I do not think the Avengers would get on well with the Guardians, the Guardians are like a bunch of jerks, really. The Avengers, for all their problems, they’re all do-gooders. And our guys are not do-gooders.”  To see Chris Pratt's thoughts on the crossover, hit the link below. Now comes the real question, who do you think would win in a fight? Sound off below!

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team--the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits--Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon; Groot, a tree-like humanoid; the deadly and enigmatic Gamora; and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand--with the galaxy's fate in the balance.

Without a doubt they'll team up eventually. It may not be for a while, but they will. No doubt about it.

Honestly though, I imagine Adam Warlock and Nova joining the Guardians in GOTG 2, and they end up coming with Quill back to Earth to join the Avengers. As much as I'd love to see the Avengers react to Rocket, Groot, and the others, I realistically think that they would stay behind as these three go to Earth alone.

I hope guardians really opens the door for more team movies. Bring the thunderbolts, the inhumans, the heroes for hire, the runaways and the West coast avengers..

@Gambitfreak

You forgot

Falcon
War Machine
Winter Soldier
Dr. Strange
probably Black Panther
probably Ms. Marvel
maybe Lady Sif and the Warriors Three
Daredevil
Iron Fist
Luke Cage
Jessica Jones
possibly Elektra
and Mockingbird and Deathlok from AoS
Hopefully Nova and Adam Warlock from GotG2

That would be 33 heroes against Thanos!

I don't see why this is a question at this point. We all know they're building to Infinity Gauntlet, and since quiet a few key characters in that story aren't under Marvel Studios license, they have to fill the gaps somehow. Why wouldn't the Guardians be teaming with the Avengers for the third movie? This seems like a non-issue that should just be expected at this point.

Guardians plot revolves heavily around Thanos being behind the scenes.

Avengers plot revolved heavily around Thanos being behind the scenes.

You'd have to be an idiot to be questioning this team up at this point. It's inevitable.

I highly doubt we'll see any of the AOS characters other than Maria Hill and Coulson in the movies. And to my knowledge, they still have yet to confirm if the Netflix characters are part of the shared universe or not. But if find it hard to believe if they weren't.

Well, GotG is a part of this phase of avengers tie-in movies, so there will have to be a link.

1) the actors are not informed of all future plans
2) future plans can change
3) the reporter asked the question
4) the question may or may not be anything the person being asked the question can answer
5) people often answer things and sound as if it has meaning depsite not knowing

result: ughhh

I actually think they'll have ALL their heroes in the 3rd avengers movie, I know you guys will say 'that's too many heroes' but think how much money that movie would make at the Box office, as well as DVD sales for people going back and watching the movies they didn't know were linked to AV3.

The roster may very well look like:
Iron man
Cap
Thor
Hulk
Hawkeye
Black widow
Dr.Strange
Antman
Black Panther
Falcon
Iron Patriot (If he lives in AOU)
with Nick Fury and Maria Hill as background characters like in the 1st movie.

Along with Star-Lord, Drax, Groot, Gamora and Rocket coming to Earth to warn of the attack from Thanos and joining the Avengers. Why would Thanos attack earth? Because lets say in GOTG2 Star-Lord really makes Thanos mad, learns he's from earth, recalls the Avengers, etc. Star-Lord rushes to his homeworld to save it.

I think we'll be introduced to the Reality Gem in Dr.Strange, and be introduced more to the Infinity Gauntlet in Thor 3 (Probably something to do with Ragnorok and the gauntlet's power to help fix things? Probably just a line of dialogue about it or something)

Then if they split the 3rd Avengers movie into 2 parts (Which I think they will, of if not they can still show this) have Thanos attack Asgard and claim the gauntlet, etc. etc.

The original Guardians teamed up with The Avengers back in Avengers issue 170 somethin' in the late 70's early 80's. 'Course it was to face off with Michael (Korvac). MCU would have the team up against Thanos, and would make one great movie.
