Ego Looks Like A Cross Between J'Son, Hyperion, And The Sentry In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Concept Art
In this latest batch of concept art from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we get to see some startlingly different takes on Ego the Living Planet and inspiration from other comic book characters is evident.
Avengers: Infinity War may not mention Star-Lord's team in the title but the Guardians of the Galaxy will play a big role in the battle against Thanos. Seeing them assemble alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes promises to be extremely satisfying and we're now taking a look back at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, a movie which firmly established this group's place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy introduced us to James Gunn's brilliant take on the group of A-Holes, the follow-up fleshed them out to an even greater extent and gave them new looks to boot.
When it was revealed that the sequel would put the spotlight on Star-Lord's father, everyone assumed that we'd see the hero square off with J'Son of Spartax. In the comic books, he was revealed to be a villain manipulating the galaxy for his own means but James Gunn decided to take things in a different direction and instead plucked Ego the Living Planet from the Fantastic Four franchise to use here.
Ego ended up being played by Kurt Russell and he had a very unique appearance on screen. However, this newly surfaced concept art reveals that he could have looked a whole lot different as inspiration was pulled not only from J'Son but comic book characters like The Sentry and Hyperion!
