James Gunn Reveals Which GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Post-Credit Scene He Had To Fight To Keep
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 had a number of post-credit scenes, but director James Gunn had to fight particularly hard to keep one of the them in the final cut. Click here to check out which one!
With Marvel being kings of the post-credit scene, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 didn't disappoint and actually ended up having 5 of them. Each one offered up something different to fans who were willing to wait out the credits, and earn the bragging rights to say they saw them all.
It's now come to light that one of the most talked about scenes almost didn't make it in, and director James Gunn had to fight to keep it. Spoilers for those of you who haven't saw that film yet.
Talking to Cinemablend, Gunn said, "I had to fight for Adam in the post-credits sequence. Because I really thought that's where that should go. And I thought one of the main reasons to have the Sovereign in the movie was to give audiences the hint that Adam Warlock is coming. That was one of the reasons for them to exist. And I wrote that post-credits sequence in the first draft of the script. And then there were a lot of questions about whether or not we should put that in there, because people were going to expect Adam Warlock in Infinity War. So one of the things I promised -- which I do all of the time on Twitter -- is letting everyone know that Adam Warlock is not going to be in Avengers 3 or Avengers 4. It's just not going to happen. Because I didn't want people to have false expectations of what they thought was going to happen with Adam."
The scene that Gunn is referring to is the one in which the Sovereign leader, Ayesha, is overlooking a mechanical cocoon that she refers to as Adam. She also makes mention that the weapon has the power to destroy the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Guardians Of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be released on digital download on August 8th and the blu-ray and DVD later this month on August 22nd.
