GREMLINS 3: Jenna Ortega Rumored To Be Have Been Offered Lead Role In Long-Awaited Threequel

We learned that Warner Bros. is officially moving ahead with a third Gremlins movie last year, and Jenna Ortega is now rumoured to have been offered the lead role...

We've been hearing rumors about a third Gremlins movie for years, but with so many stops and starts, fans had pretty much given up on the prospect of seeing Gizmo and his not-quite-so adorable pals on the big screen again.

Late last year, Warner Bros. finally announced that Gremlins 3 is officially in development and is set to hit theaters on November 19, 2027.

Steven Spielberg will return as executive producer, and the original movie's writer, Chris Columbus, is on board to direct. Final Destination: Bloodlines duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will pen the script with Columbus.

Now, scooper Daniel Richtman is reporting that the movie will feature a new female lead, and Jenna Ortega (Wednesday, Scream) has been offered the role. We don't have much more to go on, but there's speculation that this character will be Billy (Zach Galligan) and Kate's (Phoebe Cates) daughter.

There's no word on whether any of the original cast members will be back.

“I’m filled with a tremendous surge of inspiration and passion, as I embark on this cinematic journey,” said Columbus in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s an honor to reunite with Steven Spielberg and Warner Bros., as we bring this latest chapter of Gremlins to a brand new generation of moviegoers who will experience all of the thrills of this grand adventure on the big screen”

“Few titles are as beloved and iconic as Gremlins, and we’re beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation,” said Jesse Ehrman, Warners’ president of development and production. “It’s a privilege to be working alongside Steven (Spielberg), Chris (Columbus), and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the magic, mayhem, and heart of Gremlins on the big screen in 2027.”

Joe Dante's Gremlins released in 1984, and has gone on to become a pop culture phenomenon. The movie, a fairly dark Christmas-set horror comedy, introduced Gizmo, a cute creature known as a Mogwai who is capable of spawning ferocious green monsters if three very specific rules are not followed: Never get him wet, never expose him to bright light (sunlight will kill him), and never feed him after midnight.

The film was a box office hit, produced for only $11 million and grossing $151 million domestically. A 1990 sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, followed, but the bizarre satire - which has amassed a cult following over the years - only made $41 million at the box office.

A gadget salesman is looking for a special gift for his son and finds one at a store in Chinatown. The shopkeeper is reluctant to sell him the `mogwai' but sells it to him with the warning to never expose him to bright light, water, or to feed him after midnight. All of this happens and the result is a gang of gremlins that decide to tear up the town on Christmas Eve.

I’m assuming she’ll play the daughter of the original leads, which seems perfect. I hope it’s more the first one and not the campy second one

@jst5 - She something done, I don't know what it's called, that removes fat from the cheeks in the face, so it gives the appearance of sunken facial features. Apparently women think that procedure, in conjunction with the use of Ozempic, is the way to go these days. There was a video that Snark Jay put out the really does a good job in explaining this, and she uses Jenna as an example.

@LogansRazor - Yes she is. If one can keep their eyes off the "distractions" and concentrate on her eyes instead, well, nuff said on that. LOL. She makes very good points in her videos and that's why I like her channel. But yeah, she's a real cutie, but she's also very good at what she does, and her cosplay outfits are pretty good too.

@PapaBear562 - It's 100% Ozempic face.Have a family member who is a doctor and he explained what Ozempic is doing to a body and the long term effects of it and you have to be a nut to put that crap in your body.It gets to the point that it's eating tissue and it's 100% going to have a long term effect that seems people don't care about. The whole walking dead look this folks want blows my mind.I have a girl I've known for 25 years very pretty girl....haven't seen her in 5 years and ran into her last month and WTF she looks like she just walked off the set of the walking dead and was one of the zombies...100% Ozempic user!Looks nothing like she use to look.

PapaBear562 - 4/7/2026, 2:46 PM
@jst5 - My doctor asked me months ago if I wanted to try Ozempic. I turned it down. She said it's doing wonders for her husband but I tried to caution her on the long term side effects it will have. Me, a patient, telling my doctor that. You can probably imagine the thoughts going through her mind. I mean, look at Sharon Osbourne. She's a skeleton now!

I'm going to be looking for a new doctor soon, one hopefully not "tied to the system."
jst5
jst5 - 4/7/2026, 6:19 PM
@PapaBear562 - Yeah my family member isn't one of those types of doctors that wants you be a slave to the medical demon. So he's my go to because he's been in the field for over 30 years he's legit and knows he's stuff and doesn't bs.He point blank said doctors handing out Ozempic doesn't surprise him because they view these folks as investments for the future because taking this crap is 100% going to bring some serious issues down the road. This stuff eats tissue pretty much what it's doing...just think about that for a second!!
PapaBear562
PapaBear562 - 4/7/2026, 8:41 PM
@jst5 - "they view these folks as investments for the future" BINGO! The medical field, anymore, is all about money. Most doctors out there now don't want to actually care for people, they want to perpetuate whatever illnesses or conditions they can to rake in the cash. Thank God there are still some good principled doctors, but most of the newer ones, egads, they're terrible.

When I go to see my doctor on Thursday I know she's gonna be upset because, 1). learning how to get in and out of bed correctly means no PT therapy sessions for a sore back, and 2). using insoles in my house slippers means no PT therapy sessions for foot pain caused by falling arches.

As for users of Ozempic, one day they're gonna realize they made a huge mistake. Between this drug, and the many side effects of the Covid jabs now affecting people, future generations are gonna be in a bad way.

If Lauryn Hill waits another few years, the wait between Gremlins II & III will have been shorter than the wait for her to come out with a second album LOL.
