At the American Film Market, Shock Til You Drop found a one-page summary of the plot for next year's upcoming reboot of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which will supposedly be a direct sequel to the original film. The site sums up the plot below, saying that they don't want to give everything away (as the sheet they found was set up like a sort of script treatment. Obviously, there will be some SPOILERS in the following synopsis, so if you don't want to be spoiled before watching the film, then don't bother reading.

Twenty years ago, the town of Newt, Texas exacted vengeance on the Sawyer family for their role in assisting and concealing murders committed by the chainsaw-wielding maniac Jeb Sawyer, aka "Leatherface." The entire family was presume killed when Burt Hartman led the townspeople to burn down their farm house, but the Sawyer infant survived and was secretly taken away by two of the vigilante townies, Gavin and Arlene, and raised their daughter Heather. It's not until she's in her twenties that Heather learns that she's adopted. A lawyer for her grandmother tracks her down with word she's been left an inheritance.

Angry at her parents for lying to her, she sets out for Texas on a road trip with her boyfriend Ryan, friends Nikki and Kenny, and Darryl, a hitchhiker they pick up on the way.

Ultimately, Leatherface shows up when this team arrive in Newt, Texas and he raises some hell.

Sounds pretty interesting to me. Be sure to sound off your thoughts below in the usual place.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D hits theaters October 5th, 2012.

im always down for watching a texas chainsaw movie.
but 3d is so over played. it's not that exciting. and most of the time hurts the eyes.
why don't people just realize this is a gimmick. it will die off in time and no one will want to watch these stupid things. just make em traditional style for facks sakes

Hmm, the whole Leatherface daughter thing sounds like something off from the third Texas Chainsaw Massecre movie.

Other than that, I am interested . . . only if they hadn't done it in 3D.

The plot sounds just like the first movie mixed with the 3 movie "Leatherface".

i just recently saw the behind-the-scenes stuff for the original film. and my question to the filmmakers of the LATEST reboot...WHY?...WHY, oh, WHY..????

leave the classics alone and come up with NEW stuff, will ya...

give us a Texas Chainsaw Massacre for our generation, but NOT ANOTHER Texas Chainsaw Massacre. where have all the ORIGINAL ideas gone to...?? TV...???

They should just re-release TCM 2 in theaters.

That would be kickass.
