Nobody Told Stephen King He Was Gonna Be a Daddy

For an unexpected father to find out that a little one is on the way by reading about it online is just rude, but just the way it's done these days. One can just imagine the surprise on Stephen King's face when he accidentally learned that there was a remake of The Stand in the works.

"I didn’t know anything about the remake until I read about it on the Internet," King told Entertainment Weekly, quickly adding of the potential film's scope, "Historically speaking, movie studios blow the budget on things like this, so maybe it’ll be fun to look at. The dough certainly isn’t going to me, although if it is a trilogy, and if it makes a lot of money, I might be able to buy a chicken dinner at Popeye’s. Great slaw!"

For more of King's tongue-in-cheek observations on the project (which had already been the subject of a miniseries on ABC), just follow the link.

The series was the better of the Stephen King TV adaptations. It was hardly awesome though.

Has to be a Trilogy. No other way you could make it. If its just one film its going to feel like watching a trailer for a much larger film.

Great book, one of SK's best. I'm sure Hollywood will screw it up, again.
