Warner Bros. has been trying to bring Justice League to the big screen for years now and long before Zack Snyder was hired to take the helm of the DC Comics adaptation, George Miller was set to write and direct Justice League Mortal. The heroes would have been brought to life with special effects but it was the writer's strike which ultimately caused the project to fall apart and it never resurfaced.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E.'s Armie Hammer was going to play Batman but he's revealed in a new interview that he's glad the project - which also had script and budget issues - never became a reality.
"For a long time, I was like, ‘How great that could have been!’ As a 31-year-old who’s been through a lot since I was 19, I wouldn’t want to watch a 19-year-old Batman," he explained, reiterating the feelings of many comic fans. "I’d be like, ‘Who’s this spoiled rich kid who wants to play dress-up?’"
"I used to be upset we didn’t get to do it, but everything happens exactly as it’s supposed to. I still have a lot of learning to do about this, and it’s a constant pursuit for me. If I had been that successful right out of the gate, I would have thought I already understood it all. I know that I wouldn’t have turned in a great performance, or even a good performance — it would have just been whatever. So I’m glad." The entire cast of Justice League Mortal was a little off so Hammer makes a solid point!
Are you happy that the movie didn't happen, though? As always, share your thoughts on that below.
