Gal Gadot Shares Her Thoughts On The Critical Response To JUSTICE LEAGUE And Wonder Woman's Future

Wonder Woman was a hit but Justice League failed to succeed both critically and at the box office. Now, Gal Gadot has been asked about both that and how long she plans on sticking around as Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman 2 is set to be released next year and that means we're going to start hearing a lot more about the sequel in the near future. Last year was an interesting 365 days for both Gal Gadot and the character, though, with Wonder Woman a definite high and Justice League something of a low for them both. So, how did the actress feel to see the superhero ensemble met with a negative response?

Well, Entertainment Weekly asked her just that and Gadot gave a very measured response about her feelings on the divisive DC Comics adaptation and was quick to move the focus to Wonder Woman 2!

"When I started to shoot Justice League it was literally the day after I wrapped on Wonder Woman. So it was the same, but different, and it was really nice to share the stage with an ensemble cast, and work with some of the guys again. It was a lot of fun. Obviously it wasn’t  about Wonder Woman; she was supporting the bigger story. I’m very excited to start working on Wonder Woman 2."

Asked about how Diana Prince will evolve in the sequel, the actress remained frustratingly vague. "Other than the wonderful work Lynda Carter did in the TV show this character was never really told on the big screen. We just see her origin story. But there’s so much to explore with this character who has 75 years of legacy, there’s so much material and so many ways and I’m psyched about it."

As for how much longer she'll play Wonder Woman, it appears as if the mixed response to Justice League has done nothing to dampen her enthusiasm. "I think that once I’m there, once I feel it’s time to move on, then I’ll know," she says. "Right now I don’t know." What do you hope to see come next?

I thougt the Wonder Woman movie was just solid. But imo I feel like alot of people overrate it claiming it to be the best cbm of all time. I didnt like the third act or the villain but the rest was good. Cant wait to see what durection they are taking Wonder Woman in, in the sequel.

@MeAreLegend - I can see why people didn't like the villain. It didn't bother me though, because I thought everything about it made sense, and he definitely didn't come off as weak. A little naive though. But, I guess he thought he'd seen all her powers already. And, of course, she didn't even know she had that one until she began to sense it, when she had the realization that mankind is worth saving, despite our flaws. A smart guy, that Zeus, for setting her up as he did.

"I think that once I’m there, once I feel it’s time to move on, then I’ll know," she says. "Right now I don’t know."

Look at the balls on her, hahah. Regardless of how empty the threat to leave may have been if Ratner was involved, this still one of the greatest Cinderella roles in blockbuster history, and she's playing it like she's Robert Downey Jr. on the seventh movie of a six film commitment.

Wonder Woman is the very definition of an overrated film. The first two acts had a few remarkable moments and the third act was complete shit. Also, Gal Gadot still can't act worth a damn. It baffles me that out of all the talented ladies in Hollywood, she's the one that got the role. Then again, Snyder's the one that selected her so it's not really surprising.

Her default expression is either cutesy or constipated. Nothing in between.

@Ragnarocknroll - "Constipated and cute" is basically my ideal woman.

Misleading title, Josh.

She doesn’t seem to address the audience response there.

Despite being a lifelong DC and Wonder Woman skeptic i was very impressed with the film and Gal Gadot's performance. The best CBM WB has released in quite some time.Sadly,Gadot was shamefully wasted in JL.

I think they need to reboot Wonder Woman! Even though the film did fine and it was OK on balance...it was a disappointment to me because they could have told an epic origin story that could have defined the character for generations, instead they told a story that did not do Wonder Woman justice.

Didn't address it in the slightest. Think I'm done with Josh's posts.

“It wasn’t about Wonder Woman”.
Haha. Nice dodge.

Better than sad Affleck’s face.

She has a lot of leverage thanks to the low quality of the rest of the DCEU. Who could’ve guessed this Fast and Furious wannabe actress would take over the DCEU. Actually, we should’ve seen it coming.

I was expecting an answer to the title of this post. I should have known better.

As a fan of CBMs, but not a huge reader of comics, i enjoyed WW. IMO it was easily the best of DC’s connected films...but that’s kind of like saying the original Bay Transformers is the best, not a lot of options.

I respect that she didn't say that classic "for the fans" crap. Even if I think Wonder Woman was fairly overrated, her role as Diana is the only thing that makes me hesitate from wanting a full DCEU reboot.

On one hand, Justice League not aving great perfomance its a good thing regarding Wonder Woman 2. The studio wont be much concerned about stuffing it with Justice League 2 tieins and hopefully will let Patty Jenkis do her own thing

It astonishes me that a movie with just Wonder Woman in it made 150 million more at the box office than a movie with that same Wonder Woman plus Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg. It would be the equivalent of Ironman out grossing the Avengers. I can't believe how much Justice League failed. Makes me nervous for Aquaman.
