Wonder Woman doesn't spend a huge amount of time on Themyscira, but enough to make us want to see more of both Queen Hippolyta and Antiope somewhere down the line. Unfortunately, the latter dies while protecting Diana from invading Germans on Paradise Island's beaches, but it has now been revealed that both characters will make their return in Zack Snyder's upcoming Justice League movie.
Of course, we've known for a while that Amazons would factor into the movie as they're in the trailers, but Diane Nielsen and Robin Wright reprising their roles had not been confirmed. Until now that is.
"[Wright and I] got to do more in 'Justice League' as well," Neilsen tells the Los Angeles Times. "As sisters as well. Kind of badass as well. We can’t say much, but..." Wright then interrupted and added, "And more of the story, you get some of the history." Clearly, the Amazons have a past with Darkseid and Steppenwolf, though it will be interesting to see where this war fits into their history and whether it somehow links up to Ares, the eventual fate of the Olympians, and the Amazons going into hiding.
A long time ago, it was reported that Justice League would see man, Amazons, and Atlanteans each take a Mother Box to their respective homes following the defeat of Darkseid, but that artefact was nowhere to be seen in Wonder Woman. Who knows, perhaps we'll even return to Themyscira!
