Based on Mark Millar and Dave Gibbon's Kingsman: The Secret Service, the 2015 movie of the same name was a hit and made a star out of Taron Egerton. That was followed by a sequel, The Golden Circle, in 2017, and we're getting a prequel - The King's Man - next February.
While a third instalment of the main series is still in the works (along with the U.S.-based Statesman), it appears Matthew Vaughn has even bigger plans than we ever realised.
Talking to Deadline, new Marv Group CEO Zygi Kamasa revealed that the filmmaker has plans for "something like seven more Kingsman films" as the production label continues to expand. "We want to grow the business and the output," he explains. "We have a Kingsman TV series in the works and there are two-three other franchises that are being developed alongside the Kingsman world."
The King's Man has been hit by a number of delays thanks to COVID-19 and Disney's acquisition of Fox. The studio remains busy with other projects, though, including a Tetris movie starring Egerton.
It's definitely going to be interesting seeing how these plans come together, and whether those further along in development are successful enough to justify an entire Kingsman slate. There's no denying that this is a franchise with a tonne of potential, though, both on the big and small screens.
