MCU Rumor Roundup: Another Surprise DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Return, MARVEL ZOMBIES Twist, And More - SPOILERS

Our latest Marvel Cinematic Universe rumour roundup sheds light on a big Deadpool & Wolverine cameo, plans for The Hulk in Marvel Zombies, and Marvel Animation's approach to X-Men '97's future seasons.

With so many high-profile MCU projects on the way, it's no wonder that so many rumours are doing the rounds regarding Marvel Studios' plans. Today, we have another roundup for you, and we're kicking things off with a big Marvel Animation update.

According to @CanWeGetToast, the upcoming Marvel Zombies TV show will feature "Infinity Hulk," an even more powerful Variant of the Green Goliath imagined in the same vein as What If...?'s Infinity Ultron and Infinity Killmonger.

The Hulk is near-unstoppable as is, so giving him the Infinity Stones should result in a spin on the character fans can have fun with.

We also have news on X-Men '97. Daniel Richtman reiterates recent reports that Marvel Studios is keen to make as many episodes as possible of the X-Men: The Animated Series revival, producing them back-to-back to avoid a lengthy wait between seasons.

That's hampered Prime Video's Invincible since it began, so this is a smart move on Marvel's part. Season 2 is reportedly pretty far along, so we'll likely see that hit Disney+ next year.

We've saved our biggest rumour for last.

According to @MyTimeToShineH, Deadpool & Wolverine will reference Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher. He supposedly rebelled against Cassandra Nova's rule in The Void, but never came back from their confrontation.

The Cosmic Circus' Alex Perez strongly hints that it's Thomas Jane's Punisher, likely explaining why The Russian seems to be part of Cassandra's crew. He's also teased appearances from Ben Affleck's Daredevil and Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Quicksilver.

It's always best to take rumours like these with a pinch of salt, but each of the self-proclaimed "scoopers" above has a solid track record and been correct on at least a few occasions. As an aside, we've heard that Dafne Keen is 100% locked in for a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine as X-23.

Shawn Levy directs Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen. The movie is written by Ryan Reynolds & Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick & Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy.

The trades have confirmed that Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, with Wesley Snipes, James Marsden, Famke Janssen, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Dafne Keen, Channing Tatum, Blake Lively and, as we mentioned above, even singer Taylor Swift among those rumoured to make an appearance.

Kevin Feige, Reynolds, Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner produce with Louis D’Esposito, Wendy Jacobson, Mary McLaglen, Josh McLaglen, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg and Jonathon Komack Martin serving as executive producers.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26.

If the rumor about Frank Castle is true, I hope it's Thomas Jane. He was excellent in the role.

@SonOfAGif -

Sounds like it will be.
There's really only three Punishers before Jon Bernthal and they were all good imo. Sadly Ray Stevenson has passed, but some kind of nod to Punisher War Zone would be nice at some point. And an older Frank hanging around The Void would be awesome if they could somehow get Dolph back.

So basically, Alex Perez saw an easter eggs video on youtube, heard the video mention the striped shirt guy COULD be The Russian, so now "Hey guys I got a scoop! I'm hearing The Punisher might be in it! Yeah...the Tom Jane one. Could be in it or maybe not! 50/50 chance! Smash that Like button!"

Infinity Hulk sounds like a fun take , wonder if he could be Maestro-inspired?.

Also would be cool if Thomas Jane’s Frank is referenced in DPW , I enjoyed his take on the character and found the film to be decent aswell imo.

That Russian fight scene was the best part…

@TheVisionary25 - that was my first thought. That it's Maestro. Regular hulk isn't smart enough to use those gems properly

@TheVisionary25 - I love that scene to death. Makes me grin ear to ear every time. Especially the grenade in the bathtub bit.

Is Cosmic Ghost Rider popular in the comics? Be a hell of a twist if they bring back Thomas Jane's Punisher and turn him into Cosmic Ghost Rider

@AC1 - yes he is

What If either has no imagination at all or too many restrictions. Or both.

Lol... this might be the first time I've seen this site reference Invincible.

So wait. Tell me if this seems congruent or does the sentence run counter to itself? “But each of the self-proclaimed "scoopers" above has a solid track record and been correct on at least a few occasions. I suggest that being right on a few occasions is the opposite of a solid track record unless the person with the rumor only has had around twice as many predictions, perhaps even a third, but then it sounds as they are only guessing as opposed to having inside information.

@RolandD - I thought the same thing when I read it but then realized who the author was and wasn't surprised at his buffonery.

Wait, I’m confused. Why would ‘Infinity Hulk’ be in Marvel ‘Zombies’? Is it a multiverse show? Do the stones not kinda make the premise pointless? Surely if true it’s much more likely to be in a ‘What…If?’ episode?
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 5/7/2024, 10:17 AM
@CerealKiller1 - yes

It’s set in the reality saw in the Zonbies episode of What If?

@CerealKiller1 - How the [frick] he even getting the stones from Thanos when we already know he can’t take him in a 1-1 fight?
CerealKiller1
CerealKiller1 - 5/7/2024, 10:34 AM
@TheVisionary25 - I think you misunderstood me. I get where the show is set. But within the specific story of the show, is it a multiverse show? This article labels ‘Infinity Hulk’ as a variant. We saw regular hulk in the Zombies episode (I even thought he sacrificed himself at the end to try and stop Scarlet Witch, but I may be misremembering)

I thought this show would be grounded in its own reality, and will be disappointed if it ends up being yet another multiverse themed story
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 5/7/2024, 10:44 AM
@CerealKiller1 - oh ok , I did misunderstand you so sorry about that

From what we know ,it seems to just be set in its own reality

Maybe they did get their wires crossed and it’s an What If episode since that’s happened before.

Any excuse for some more Tom Jane Frank Castle.

For those who may not know, there’s a Tom Jane 11 minute follow up fan short online called “Dirty Laundry”. Go get yourself some bonus Frank.
