BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN Director Reportedly Wants WONDER WOMAN's Gal Gadot For The Lead If Jolie Exits

Universal has pressed pause on Bride of Frankenstein, leaving prospective star Angelina Jolie's commitment in question - however, we're now hearing that Bill Condon has a wondrous replacement in mind...

Last night, we found out that Universal had paused pre-production on the planned Bride of Frankenstein remake in order to work on the script, leaving Javier Bardem and Angelina Jolie's commitment to the lead roles up in the air for the time being.

However, if the latter does ultimately decide not to sign on to play the monstrous bride of the title, it sounds like director Bill Condon is already thinking about a potential replacement.

According to The Wrap, Condon wants Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, to step into the role if Jolie walks away. Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean the highly in-demand actress would have any interest in boarding such a troubled franchise when she's already committed to The DCEU.

Many believe this is actually the death knell for the Dark Universe, and if the studio's mandate for the rebooted series of horror properties is accurate, it's not difficult to see why. "They wanted these to work as PG-rated action movies/theme-park rides, not horror movies,” explains The Wrap's insider. “Basically ‘Fast and the Furious’ meets ‘The Avengers’ – but with super monsters.“

If Jolie were to drop out, do you think Gadot would make a good Bride of Frankenstein? Sound off in the usual place.

These movies were a bad idea from the start once they mentioned them to be family friendly. These are horror movies, not action vehicles.

@xfactor - Thank you! Hollywood's become so spineless it's hilarious. They don't mind applying the gore and blood for elaborate puzzle and ghost films, but when it comes to good old fashion horror stories that can use more practical than digital techniques to make a authentic horror film, they slip up.

@xfactor - To be fair I don't think they were ever accurately portrayed on film.

Much as I love Gary Oldman, Coppola's Dracula is a [frick]ing travesty when compared to the source material. Yeah I said it, fight me.

@xfactor - While I agree that they are not action vehicles for sure, the original movies were very light on actual horror and are definitely family friendly. If you're saying that they should make them legit horror movies then I totally agree.

I watched Dracula Untold and I thought it was good. I have not seen The Mummy as of yet. But I will soon.

I get what they are trying to do with bringing in all of the classic monsters and introducing them to a new generation. I just think they are trying too hard.

They just need to keep things basic and try to build a universe little by little. I think they are trying to go too big too fast.
